The Slovak Legion is a staple of the Thunder Bay community, known for our bustling family restaurant, popular lunch buffets, and premier event hosting. We are seeking a skilled and efficient dynamic, friendly, reliable and experienced Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our kitchen operations through the busy autumn and upcoming holiday seasons.

We are looking for a person with kitchen experience and knowledge of safe food handling practices. If you believe this might be you then we would enjoy meeting with you to discuss the opportunity.

This position features a structured, variable hour arrangement:

- October: Steady part-time hours.
- November: Transition period (details to be discussed at interview).
- December: Full-time hours to support our heavy volume of holiday bookings, weddings, and Christmas catering.

We are looking for someone who could work in our catering kitchen assisting our Chef preparing meals for functions.

Your tasks would include:

- Prep and cook classic menu items, popular lunch buffets, and holiday banquet orders.
- Maintain quality and speed during busy restaurant and large event services.




- Keep stations clean, safe, and fully stocked according to health regulations.
- Work as a team with kitchen staff to ensure smooth, efficient service.

Job Type: Part Time

Pay: $ 18.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience.

You must be able to:

- Stand for extended periods of time
- Lift and carry food, cook supplies and equipment to approximately 25 lbs.
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal
- Customer service skills.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures.
- Work evenings and weekend as well as day shifts.

Job Type: Part-time Pay: $17.95-$22.00 per hour
