Join our dynamic team as a Kitchen Manager, where your leadership and culinary expertise will drive the success of our vibrant food service operation. In this role, you will oversee daily kitchen activities, ensure exceptional food quality, and foster a positive environment for both staff and guests. Hours
Hours will vary depending on the needs of the business but will include a mix of morning, day time and evening shifts for a total of 40 hours a week.
Duties
- Responsible for managing food and labour costs
- Monitor inventory, portion control, ordering, waste, and product usage to minimize unnecessary expenses.
- Work within established food-cost and labour budgets while identifying opportunities to improve kitchen efficiency and profitability
- Supervise all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and food handling to maintain high standards of quality and safety
- Manage and motivate kitchen staff through effective team management, including interviewing, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations
- Oversee food safety protocols in compliance with health regulations and ensure proper food handling procedures are followed consistently
- Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth serving processes and excellent customer service experiences
- Operate POS systems such as Square for order processing, cash handling, and transaction accuracy
- Maintain inventory levels,
order supplies as needed, and manage kitchen cleanliness to meet sanitation standards
- Lead by example in hospitality excellence, fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth
Requirements
- Must have proven experience in kitchen cost management, including food and labour cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to manage inventory, portion control, ordering, waste, and product usage
- Experience monitoring budgets, analyzing costs, and implementing strategies to reduce waste and improve profitability
- Proven experience in food service roles with a strong background in restaurant management or kitchen supervision
- Demonstrated supervising experience within the food industry or hospitality sector
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Square or similar platforms for efficient order processing and cash handling
- Solid leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on creating welcoming dining environments
- Experience in interviewing potential staff members and conducting training sessions to uphold service standards
- Previous restaurant or hotel experience is highly desirable
