Position Summary The Lab Technician / Analytical Chemist performs analytical testing of cannabis, environmental, and other sample matrices for pesticides and other residues using advanced laboratory techniques. The position is primarily responsible for routine sample preparation, analysis, data review, and laboratory documentation while ensuring testing is completed in accordance with established quality requirements and turnaround times.

The role also supports analytical method implementation, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting, as well as routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Working as part of the laboratory team, the Lab Technician / Analytical Chemist helps maintain a safe, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform chemical analysis of cannabis, environmental, and other assigned samples for pesticides, aflatoxins, PFAS, and other contaminants using LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS.
- Prepare samples using a variety of extraction, cleanup, and sample preparation techniques.
- Process, review, and interpret analytical data and maintain accurate laboratory records.
- Ensure analytical results meet established quality control and reporting requirements.
- Complete testing within established turnaround times.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and associated software.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and performance checks.
- Maintain laboratory supplies, chemicals, standards, and consumables.
- Assist in maintaining laboratory cleanliness, organization, and readiness for routine operations.




- Follow laboratory safety procedures and safe chemical handling practices.
- Support the implementation, development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods.
- Assist with preparation and revision of SOPs, validation protocols, reports, and other laboratory documentation.
- Follow laboratory quality systems and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities as required.

Qualifications & Education

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.

Experience Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in several of the following areas:

- Analytical chemistry laboratory operations.
- Operation of LC-MS/MS and/or GC-MS/MS instrumentation.
- Sample preparation and extraction techniques.
- Analytical data processing and review.
- Method development, optimization, or validation.
- Instrument troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Regulated laboratory environments, including ISO 17025, GLP, GMP, pharmaceutical, cannabis or environmental.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

- Knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory practices.




- Experience with LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS instrumentation.
- Knowledge of chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques.
- Sample preparation, extraction, and cleanup procedures.
- Analytical data processing and quality control review.
- Knowledge of method development, optimization, and validation.
- Instrument troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
- Experience with Agilent MassHunter, OpenLab, Sciex OS, or similar software platforms.
- Familiarity with LIMS and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, GMP, or related quality systems is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Working Conditions This position is performed on-site in a laboratory environment and may involve prolonged periods of standing or sitting, repetitive analytical work, operation of analytical instrumentation, and exposure to hazardous materials and laboratory safety risks.

Standard hours are generally maintained. Rare evening work may be required when urgent analytical, instrument, or development activities must be completed.

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
