PEI Atlantic Baptist Homes – Centennial Court is seeking compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our care team. Multiple casual openings are available at our 116 bed not for profit nursing home in Charlottetown, PEI.

Working within an interdisciplinary team, LPNs and RNs are responsible for providing nursing care, assessing and monitoring residents’ health, administering medications and treatments, and contributing to individualized care plans. Each nurse carries out their responsibilities within their professional scope of practice and applicable nursing standards.

The successful candidates will demonstrate strong clinical judgement, communication and teamwork skills, professionalism, and a commitment to providing protected, compassionate and resident centred care.

Responsibilities:

1. Resident Care and Assessment

- Assess and monitor residents’ health, identify changes in their condition, and take appropriate action within the scope of the position.
- Provide nursing care that promotes residents’ dignity, comfort, safety and well being.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of individualized care plans.
- Provide wound care and other clinical interventions within the applicable scope of practice.
- Communicate with residents and families respectfully and professionally regarding care needs and concerns.

2. Medication and Treatment Administration





- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with prescribed orders, professional standards and organizational policies.
- Monitor residents’ responses to medications and treatments and report concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of medications, treatments and related observations.

3. Team Collaboration and Clinical Leadership

- Provide direction, guidance and supervision to care staff within the scope of the nursing role.
- Communicate relevant resident information during shift reports and care transitions to promote continuity of care.

4. Safety, Documentation and Professional Practice

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, care provided and changes in residents’ condition.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices and organizational safety procedures.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
- Identify and report safety concerns, incidents and changes requiring further assessment or intervention.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Completion of a recognized Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing program, as applicable to the position.
- Successful completion of the required licensing examination.
- Active registration in good standing with the appropriate PEI nursing regulatory body.
- Current CPR certification.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Strong clinical judgement, organizational and problem solving skills.




- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, safe and respectful environment for residents and employees.

Other Job Information:

- Location: Centennial Court, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
- Employment Type: Casual. Multiple LPN and RN openings are available.
- Availability: Casual LPN and RN employees must be able to pick up a minimum of six shifts per month.
- Salary: Based on the applicable collective agreement.
