NOM is the next chapter of Nomiya, our family's ramen restaurant that has fed Edmonton for sixteen years. We're now a 36-seat, technique-driven Japanese kitchen: handmade udon, considered small plates, and a sake and cocktail program. It's small, focused, and every plate matters.
We're looking for a line cook who takes pride in clean, consistent work and wants to grow in a kitchen led by people who've been doing this for decades. Our Culinary Director Jeff brings 65+ years of experience, and Head Chef Steven Yu has cooked Japanese cuisine since 2007.
What you'll do
- Cook your station during lunch and dinner service to spec, on time, every time
- Prep and mise en place to the standards set by our Head Chef
- Keep your station clean and sanitized and follow food safety procedures
- Label, date, and rotate product (FIFO)
and flag low inventory before it becomes a problem
- Support other stations when service calls for it
- Take part in pre-shift lineups and menu tastings
What we're looking for
- 1+ year in a professional kitchen (Japanese or fine dining a strong asset)
- Solid knife skills and the ability to follow recipes precisely
- Calm under pressure, coachable, and a team player
- Food handler certification (or willingness to get it in your first 30 days)
- Available FT for daytime, evenings and weekends; able to lift 30 lbs
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
Perks
- Dental care
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
