Maintenance Worker

Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and self-motivated Maintenance Worker to support the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of our facilities. In this role, you will help ensure our buildings, equipment, and property infrastructure remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Working independently and alongside contractors and internal teams, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot facility issues, complete repairs, and participate in an on-call rotation to address urgent maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
Building Maintenance
- Complete plumbing, painting, drywall, carpentry, and flooring repairs.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Respond to maintenance requests and service calls.
- Troubleshoot building and equipment issues.
- Assist with basic HVAC and mechanical system maintenance.
- Coordinate with contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency maintenance issues when needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
Facility Operations
- Monitor and maintain mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Coordinate with contractors and external service providers when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, materials, and tools.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable building codes.
Emergency Response & On-Call Support
- Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to facility emergencies.
- Respond promptly to issues such as plumbing leaks, heating failures, electrical outages, security concerns, and other urgent maintenance situations.
- Assess emergency conditions and take appropriate action to minimize damage and ensure occupant safety.
- Support business continuity through effective emergency response and mitigation efforts.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, and potential risks.
- Participate in safety training, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Bring Education & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Building maintenance certification or related trades training is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of building maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience with plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, and general building repairs.
- Experience working with HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and facility operations is an asset.
- Experience coordinating with contractors and service providers is preferred.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Basic knowledge of building systems, HVAC equipment, plumbing, and mechanical operations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and implement effective solutions.
- Good organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable climbing ladders, working at heights, and performing physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond within specified response times.
