About the Program The Clinical Research Operations Manager oversees clinical research operations at The Royal and the IMHR, ensuring efficient research support, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. Reporting to the Director, Clinical Research Administration, the role leads research staff and collaborates with investigators and key stakeholders to support research activities.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, standardize processes, develop policy, manage and mitigate risks, and reduce administrative burden.
- Assist with reporting at various levels.
- Assist with staff onboarding.
- Coordinate institutional resources required for successful study execution.
- Lead initiatives to improve participant recruitment and study retention.
- Review and approve vacation requests; monitor sick leave use and balances.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and service excellence.
- Collaborate with Research Finance to ensure operational sustainability.
- Check for budget availability and expense eligibility.




- Monitor operational costs and staffing utilization.
- Contribute to business cases and grant applications for new research initiatives and infrastructure.
- Review and approve payroll.
- Build collaborative relationships with Principal Investigators, Research Coordinators, REB, Research Finance, Contracts, Pharmacy, and Sponsors.
- Support onboarding and orientation of research staff.
- Identify training needs and coordinate career development opportunities.
- Promote best practices in clinical research operations.
- Encourage continuous quality improvement and professional growth.
- Support the development of research operations and services.
- Participate in the facilitation of research-focused events (e.g., Research Week, Trainee Awards, research conferences).
- Ensure compliance with ICH-GCP, Health Canada Regulations, TCPS 2, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, regulatory audits, and monitoring visits.
- Maintain operational readiness for sponsor, regulatory, and institutional audits.
- Represent the IMHR on institutional committees and external working groups.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, Clinical Research, Health Administration, or related discipline. Master’s Degree Preferred.
- 7 to 10 years of progressive research administration experience, including 3 to 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- SOCRA Certification required.
- Robust knowledge of TCPS2, ICH-GCP,



Health Canada Food and Drug Regulations, research finance and grants administration, clinical trial operations, and privacy legislation.

Language Requirements

- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.

Salary Range: $65.08 to $75.44 per hour
