Marine Mechanic / Marine Engineer
Adams and Knickle Limited is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanic / Marine Engineer to join our shore maintenance team. This hands-on role supports the secure, reliable operation of our Scallop Trawler through planned maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.
The role
You will maintain and repair main engines, generators, hydraulic systems, pumps, refrigeration and electrical equipment, deck machinery, and other vessel systems. You will diagnose faults, carry out corrective work, and help plan maintenance to minimize vessel downtime.
What you bring
- A marine engineering certificate of competency, or a recognized marine diesel mechanic trade qualification with commercial vessel experience.
- Strong practical experience with large diesel propulsion systems, generators and marine auxiliary machinery.
- Experience maintaining hydraulic fishing equipment and deck machinery.
- Knowledge of marine electrical systems, motor controls and troubleshooting.
- The ability to read engineering drawings, wiring and piping diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- The ability to work safely in machinery spaces, confined spaces, wet conditions and cold temperatures.
Experience with commercial fishing vessels—particularly scallop vessels, draggers or trawlers—is preferred.
Experience with DNV-classed vessels, refrigeration or fish-processing systems is an asset.
