About the Role

We are seeking an experienced machine operator to take ownership of our pre-production preparation. You will operate a Hobart band saw and grinder to cut bones and cut and grind animal fats to production specifications.

This hands-on role requires previous experience with commercial meat band saws and grinders, strong attention to safety, and the ability to prepare materials accurately and efficiently. You will also be responsible for keeping the prep room, equipment, and tools clean, sanitized, and organized.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely set up and operate the band saw and grinder to cut bones and process animal fats, including frozen materials where specified and permitted by equipment procedures.
- Follow preparation instructions for cut sizes, grind specifications, quantities, and production priorities.
- Weigh, identify, and stage prepared materials for production while maintaining lot traceability and required temperature controls.
- Inspect raw materials and report quality concerns, foreign material, or unsuitable product before processing.
- Check equipment condition and safety guards before use; stop and report equipment faults or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, work surfaces, floors,



and the prep room according to established schedules and procedures.
- Disassemble and reassemble equipment for cleaning only within training and authorization, following required shutdown and lockout procedures.
- Complete preparation and cleaning records, monitor material availability, and communicate readiness or delays to the production team.
- Carry out authorized routine equipment care and report maintenance needs.

Qualifications & Working Requirements

- Previous hands-on experience operating commercial meat band saws and grinders is required; Hobart equipment experience is preferred.
- Experience cutting bones and processing animal fats, meat, or similar raw materials.
- Practical understanding of food safety, personal hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and safe raw material handling.
- Ability to follow written instructions, measure and weigh accurately, and maintain clear records.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, dependable attendance, and accountability for completing assigned work.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and safely move heavy materials using appropriate equipment or assistance.




- Comfortable handling animal fats and bones and working in cool or wet processing areas.
- Commitment to equipment safeguards, safe chemical handling, and required personal protective equipment.

Food safety, HACCP, or WHMIS training is an asset. Training in our specific preparation and sanitation procedures will be provided. Why Join Us?

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 – 24.0 per week
