The Opportunity:
The Mechanical Co-op Student will have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team that is reshaping how we design and create innovative solutions to deliver our quality products to the end user. You work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment where priorities can change quickly. You need to be comfortable working in a very complex technical environment where you'll have to dig deep and go beyond the surface-level solution to find the right solution.
As a leading Canadian manufacturer of pneumatic, battery powered, and electronic pistol grip torque wrenches, RAD products have proven to be successful all over the world in industries such as oil & gas, petrochemical, mining, aerospace, power generation and manufacturing.
Qualifications
Education
- Partial completion of a mechanical engineering program.
- CAD/CAM/FEA/Materials courses an asset
- Previous Coop in manufacturing environment an asset
Experience
- CAD design / drawing creation - SolidWorks preferred.
- Welding and Fabrication
- Sourcing components
Skills
- Able to read and understand Engineering drawings.
- You are able to debug and troubleshoot technical problems.
- You have excellent problem-solving skills.
- You are a critical thinker, able to analyze technical information and reach appropriate conclusions.
- You are self-motivated,
conscientious and detail oriented.
- You excel in an environment that demands quality, accuracy, and precision.
- You have solid interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting.
- You communicate clearly and effectively in English to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- You speak up when issues need to be escalated.
- You are able to prioritize issues and manage multiple simultaneous tasks
Additional skills that would be considered an asset:
- Knowledge of or familiarity with any of the following:
- Atlassian tools: Jira, Confluence
- SolidWorks or other 3d model tools
- Microsoft Excel
- Inspection & measurement equipment

Duties
- Continuous improvement of existing products.
- Support lab equipment and customizations to lab equipment.
- Custom reaction fixture design & simulation.
- Design and support implementation of production floor jigs and fixtures.
- Assist Engineering testing & Verification tasks.
- 3D printer technician tasks / prototype building.
- BOM support & Data entry in ERP system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Timely documenting work and recording of time for SRED projects.
Wage: $25 per hour
