Job Type: Full-time

Work Arrangement: Primarily work-from-home / virtual office, with one to two days per week on-site at the hospital

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday

Starting Wage: $26.25 per hour, with opportunities for raises based on experience, performance, and length of service with the office.

A busy and growing surgical practice is seeking a full-time Medical Administrative Assistant who is organized, reliable, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

This is primarily a virtual, work-from-home position, with approximately one to two days per week required on-site at the hospital to support office operations, coordinate clinical activities, and complete tasks that require an in-person presence.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working independently from home while remaining responsive, organized, and readily available during office hours.

Key Responsibilities

- Answer and manage incoming phone calls, emails, patient inquiries, and appointment requests
- Schedule and coordinate consultations, procedures, surgeries, investigations, and follow-up appointments
- Manage referrals and maintain accurate patient records
- Prepare and process forms, reports, correspondence, requisitions, and other clinical documentation
- Provide excellent and compassionate customer service to patients
- Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals
- Follow up on outstanding referrals, investigations, patient requests, and administrative tasks




- Confirm appointments and procedures and assist in minimizing missed appointments and no-shows
- Maintain an organized task-management system and ensure important items are followed through to completion
- Assist with maintaining efficient day-to-day office workflow
- Manage multiple priorities and respond appropriately to urgent or changing circumstances
- Attend the hospital approximately one day per week for tasks requiring an on-site presence
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications and Skills
- Experience with Accuro EMR is strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a medical or surgical office is strongly preferred
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable multitasking and prioritizing competing demands
- Able to work effectively in a quick-paced and evolving environment
- Adaptable and comfortable with changing priorities
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable
- Proactive and able to work independently without requiring constant supervision




- Comfortable working remotely and managing responsibilities effectively from a home office
- Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and electronic medical records
- Comfortable learning new technology, systems, and office processes
- Good judgment when dealing with confidential or sensitive information
- Able to remain calm, courteous, and professional when dealing with challenging situations or high patient volumes

There is opportunity for wage increases over time based on previous experience, demonstrated performance, increased responsibilities, and length of service with the office.
