Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough risk analysis by evaluating financial documents and assessing where a client may qualify.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and policies to make informed decisions on mortgage applications.
- Collaborate with lender underwriters, lawyers, and other stakeholders to streamline the approval process.
- Maintain accurate records of all underwriting decisions and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, market trends, and changes in lending standards to ensure compliance.

Experience





- Proven experience in mortgage underwriting or a similar role within the alternative mortgage space.
- Strong understanding of mortgage products, loan documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent data collection skills combined with analytical thinking to interpret complex financial information.
- Demonstrated ability in risk analysis, identifying potential issues early in the underwriting process.
- Solid background in math, accounting principles, and financial analysis tools.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple applications efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
