What You Will Do
Supervision and People Management
- Create a high-performance culture, leading by example, through effective hiring, onboarding, performance management and mentoring/coaching of direct care providers
- Monitor staff schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels, continuity of care, and operational efficiency, where applicable
- Ensure adherence to policies and procedures as well as regional licensing requirements
- Manage the daily operation of assigned homes and provide direction to staff aligned with policies and procedures and standards of professional conduct
- Escalate issues/concerns to Operations Manager/Senior Management when required
- Assist in training and onboarding of direct care providers (and Team Lead in some regions) in collaboration with Clinical and Operations Managers as appropriate
- Ensure direct care providers are well aligned with the Key Accountabilities of their role and are meeting performance expectations, including execution (and creation where applicable) of recreation and activity plans
- Provide feedback and escalate any performance concerns to respective Operations Manager
- Complete probation and annual performance reviews
- Work in collaboration with Operations Manager, and Team Leads (if applicable), when there are challenging performance issues,
engaging Human Resources for consultation and support as appropriate
- Monitor and track to ensure all mandatory and annual training requirements are complete and gaps addressed
- Report workplace injuries in reporting system and ensure the workplace injury report is forwarded to the appropriate Operations Manager
Effective Operations Management
- Supervise and provide direction to staff aligned with policies and procedures and standards of professional conduct
- Provide day-to-day operational supervision to ensure consistent home and program stability
- Participate in proactive workforce planning ensuring effective coverage across all service areas, where applicable
- Support with recruitment and onboarding of current staff – interviewing, training etc.
- Assist in ensuring that direct care providers are scheduled in the homes in accordance with the funding guidelines and Collective Bargaining Agreement –where applicable
- Collaborate with the Clinical team, Operations Managers to develop, and track monthly activity recreational plans
- Accountable for ensuring that home(s) are always well stocked with groceries, household, medical and home office supplies
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of home
- Collaborate with the Clinical team to ensure follow through on contracted services, including the Individual Support Plan (ISP)/ Plan of Care (POC), Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) protocols
- Maintain supported individual and employee privacy in accordance with CBI Home Health policy and applicable provincial privacy legislation
- Support with monthly monitoring of supported individuals’ finances (e.g. expenditures, reimbursements, etc.) and escalate any discrepancies or concerns to the Operations Manager,
or Operations Manager Lead as appropriate
Caseload Management and Reporting
- Assist Operations Managers to ensure accurate records of house petty cash and the supported individuals personal cash
- Assist with monitoring the supported individual’s finances (expenditures, reimbursements, may include reconciling the client’s personal funds at month end) and complete audits as per policy.
- Assist Operations Managers to ensure completion and submission of recreation/activity summaries .
- Support with the tracking and completion of progress reports as outlined by respective funders
- Support the team in tracking and meeting KPI’s as developed by respective funders (where applicable)
What You Will Need To Be Successful
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisor or leadership role in a service-focused organization
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience working directly with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis and/or experience supporting vulnerable children/youth and adults that have experienced trauma
- Previous experience in a Direct Support Specialist role is an asset
- Demonstrated patient-centered focus with a commitment to providing quality care
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s license
- Required to have a reliable vehicle with $2 million liability insurance that you will bring to work each day
- Clear Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector Search
