Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and direction of the contracted pharmacist, the Pharmacy Assistant manages and maintains medication stock in the pharmacy department, prepares medications for dispensing to the automated dispensing cabinets, fills medication orders,
updates inpatient medication profiles, maintains vaccine stock and monitors narcotic and controlled substances in the pharmacy and throughout the hospital.
Requirements
- Holds a current Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP); OR equivalent combination of education and experience; OR Graduate of an accredited Registered Practical Nurse program, including successful completion of a Pharmacology course
- At least one-year work-related experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
- Successfully complete a Medication Dispensing Certification.
