ABOUT THE ROLE

RAM Elevators & Lifts Inc. is seeking an experienced and hands-on Powder Coat Lead to oversee the day-to-day operation of our powder coating area.

The Powder Coat Lead will provide direction to powder coating employees, coordinate workflow, monitor product quality, support production schedules and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring the successful candidate to participate directly in powder coating and finishing activities while providing guidance and support to the team.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong powder coating knowledge, attention to detail, sound judgment and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide day-to-day direction and support to Powder Coat employees and helpers.
- Organize and prioritize work according to production requirements and scheduled deadlines.
- Coordinate the flow of parts through preparation, powder coating, curing and inspection.
- Monitor production progress and communicate delays, issues or resource requirements to management.
- Ensure employees are following established processes, procedures and work instructions.
- Train and coach employees on powder coating processes, safe work practices and quality expectations.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees within the department.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, productivity and a positive workplace environment.
- Escalate employee, production or quality concerns to the appropriate manager.

Powder Coating & Finishing

- Perform hands-on powder coating and finishing duties as required.
- Prepare parts and surfaces for powder coating, including cleaning, masking and preparation.
- Set up and operate powder coating equipment, including spray guns, hoppers and booth collection systems.
- Load and unload parts onto fixtures and ensure proper positioning for coating.
- Select and apply appropriate powder coating according to product requirements.
- Monitor coating application, coverage, colour, thickness and consistency.
- Ensure products are properly cured according to established requirements.




- Identify and address coating defects, including runs, uneven coverage, contamination, colour variation and adhesion issues.
- Coordinate rework when products do not meet quality requirements.

Quality Control

- Conduct regular visual inspections of completed products.
- Ensure finished products meet RAM's quality standards and customer requirements.
- Monitor colour consistency and coating quality throughout production.
- Identify recurring quality issues and communicate them to management.
- Assist with investigating the cause of coating defects and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure completed products are properly identified and moved to the next stage of production.

Equipment & Shop Operations

- Ensure powder coating equipment and work areas are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of powder coating equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor powder usage and identify equipment or supply requirements.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance requirements or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate inventory of powder, supplies and other finishing materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized and efficient powder coating area.

Health & Safety

- Lead by example in following RAM's health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure employees use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report workplace hazards.
- Ensure safe handling, storage and use of powder coating materials and equipment.
- Support housekeeping and workplace organization standards.
- Immediately report incidents, injuries, near misses and unsafe conditions to management.
- Participate in safety meetings, training and investigations as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

- 4+ years of experience in powder coating, industrial painting or a similar manufacturing finishing environment.
- Previous lead-hand, supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of powder coating preparation,



application and curing processes.
- Experience operating powder coating equipment, including spray guns and booth systems.
- Strong understanding of coating quality requirements and defect identification.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, specifications and production requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to organize work and prioritize competing production requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide direction and training to team members.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Manufacturing or metal fabrication experience is an asset.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to lift, carry and pull up to 50 lbs multiple times throughout the workday.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently bend, reach, push, pull and handle materials.
- Good visual acuity to inspect coating quality, colour variation, coverage and consistency.
- Ability to safely perform hands-on powder coating and material-handling activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS The position is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to:

- Powder coating materials and airborne particles.
- Odours and dust.
- Noise and vibration.
- Heat and cold.
- Moving mechanical equipment.
- Industrial equipment and machinery.

The noise level may be loud and the temperature in the work environment is not regulated. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The successful Powder Coat Lead will:

- Keep the powder coating department organized and moving efficiently.
- Ensure products consistently meet RAM's quality standards.
- Support the team in meeting production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Identify and address quality or production issues promptly.
- Maintain strong safety and housekeeping standards.
- Provide explicit direction, training and support to team members.
- Communicate effectively with production leadership and other departments.
- Take ownership of the powder coating area and continuously look for opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and workflow.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
