Key responsibilities

Institutional strategy and innovation

- Lead a rolling three- to five-year strategic plan and annual operating priorities, with measurable milestones, resource needs, risks, and quarterly progress reports to Director of company.
- Use the current B.C. Labour Market Outlook, regional economic evidence, employer consultation, competitor analysis, and student demand to identify and test new directions; revisit assumptions as conditions change.
- Generate creative but disciplined proposals for programs, credentials, delivery formats, partnerships, and learner markets. Present business cases with educational value, employment demand, regulatory pathway, staffing, facilities, enrolment assumptions, and financial viability.
- Make clear recommendations to launch, improve, pause, or close offerings based on evidence, learner outcomes, and institutional capacity.

Curriculum and educational quality

- Personally lead the academic direction and development pipeline for new programs, working with academic leaders, instructors, employers, and external experts from concept and curriculum design through approval, launch, evaluation, and revision.
- Ensure curricula have explicit learning outcomes, current occupational skills, applied projects or work-integrated opportunities where suitable, appropriate assessment, and a regular employer feedback cycle.
- Review existing programs for relevance, teaching quality, completion, graduate employment, and student experience; lead timely revisions when technology or occupational practice changes.
- Develop faculty and academic leaders, protect academic integrity, and support effective teaching across in-person, blended, and online delivery as appropriate.

Business administration and growth

- Oversee financial planning, budgets, operating performance, staffing, and prudent use of facilities and technology; align investments with approved strategic priorities.
- Lead an integrated enrolment and marketing strategy with the responsible teams, including positioning, domestic and international audience selection, channel performance, conversion, and truthful program and employment claims.
- Build sustainable revenue and partnerships through employer training, continuing education, institutional collaboration, and other approved initiatives while maintaining educational quality.
- Develop a strong management team, clarify accountabilities, and use timely data to address performance and operational problems.

External leadership and student outcomes

- Serve as Brighton College’s principal public speaker and ambassador at industry, community, government, media, and education events; communicate a credible vision and represent the College with confidence.
- Build productive relationships with employers, professional associations, community partners,

and educational institutions that inform curriculum and expand student opportunities.
- Champion recruitment, retention, learner support, career readiness, and graduate outcomes; ensure student voices and complaints inform improvement.
- Maintain an inclusive and respectful culture and advance appropriate engagement with Indigenous communities and reconciliation in institutional practice.

Governance, quality, and compliance

- Ensure institutional policies, program delivery, student communications, records, and quality assurance meet applicable requirements and external commitments.
- Lead preparation for reviews, applications, and approvals in collaboration with the relevant specialists; report material compliance, financial, reputation, and student risks promptly to Patrick Zhao and Eric Zhao.
- Work constructively with any applicable governing or advisory bodies while maintaining the stated executive reporting relationship.

Qualifications and leadership attributes

- A graduate degree in education, business, public administration, or a relevant field; a doctorate is strongly preferred for candidates expected to lead a substantial degree-development agenda.
- Significant senior leadership experience in post-secondary or career education, ideally in British Columbia, with demonstrated responsibility for curriculum, strategy, people, budgets, and institutional change.
- Direct experience designing or substantially revising programs and translating employer and labour-market evidence into educational offerings and measurable outcomes.
- Sound business administration and marketing judgment, including enrolment strategy, financial analysis, partnerships, and responsible growth.
- Outstanding public speaking, writing, media, and stakeholder communication skills; able to explain a compelling direction to staff, students, employers, and external audiences.
- Creative, curious, decisive, collaborative, and able to turn ideas into approved plans and delivered results; high integrity and sound judgment in a regulated education setting.
