About Mansteel Rebar

Mansteel Rebar Ltd. is a leading fabricator, installer, and distributor of concrete reinforcing steel serving commercial, residential, infrastructure, and industrial construction projects across Ontario. Our facilities operate in a fast-paced environment where safety, reliability, quality, and teamwork are essential.

At Mansteel Rebar, we believe every team member can make a difference. We invest in our employees, foster collaboration, and provide opportunities to develop practical skills and grow within the organization.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Production & Maintenance Operator to join our night shift team in Pembroke.

This position is primarily focused on production operations, while also requiring a strong mechanical and technical mindset. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with hand and power tools, identifying basic mechanical issues, and performing minor repairs or adjustments when required.

The individual will receive training on Mansteel's equipment and procedures and will be expected to use good judgment when addressing equipment issues — including recognizing when a problem can be safely addressed and when it requires escalation to maintenance or a supervisor.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on individual who enjoys working with machinery, solving practical problems, and working in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate production equipment safely and efficiently during the night shift.
- Perform routine production tasks while maintaining established safety and quality standards.
- Monitor equipment during operation and identify unusual sounds, movements, wear, or other potential issues.
- Perform minor mechanical repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting when appropriately trained and authorized.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Assist with basic equipment maintenance and upkeep.
- Follow preventative maintenance procedures and report equipment issues promptly.
- Determine when an issue can be safely addressed and when it requires assistance from maintenance personnel or management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, and applicable workplace regulations.

- Communicate equipment or production issues clearly to supervisors and maintenance personnel.
- Support production targets while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
- Work independently during the night shift while knowing when to escalate technical or mechanical concerns.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, industrial, construction, or mechanical environment is an asset.
- Hands-on experience using hand and power tools is required.
- Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Ability to understand basic mechanical problems and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Good practical judgment and awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
- Ability to recognize situations that should be escalated to maintenance or management.
- Comfortable working around industrial machinery and equipment.
- Ability to follow procedures, instructions, and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently during the night shift.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Previous experience performing minor repairs, equipment adjustments, maintenance, or troubleshooting is strongly preferred.
- Candidates should be prepared to provide specific examples of mechanical, technical, repair, or hands-on work they have performed.

What We're Looking For This position is more than a general production role. We are specifically looking for someone with a strong technical/mechanical foundation who is comfortable working with tools and machinery.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate examples such as:

- Repairing or troubleshooting machinery or equipment.
- Using hand and power tools to complete repairs or adjustments.
- Performing basic mechanical maintenance.
- Diagnosing a mechanical problem and determining the appropriate next step.
- Completing hands-on projects involving equipment, machinery, vehicles, or industrial systems.

- Knowing when a repair can safely be handled independently and when a qualified maintenance professional should be called.

Candidates with strong hands-on mechanical experience are encouraged to apply even if their previous job title was not "Maintenance Technician." Please note: Mansteel Rebar Ltd. does not require Canadian work experience as part of its hiring criteria.
