Are you a seasoned project controls professional with a passion for delivering complex heavy civil, marine, industrial, or infrastructure projects?

Vancouver Pile Driving Ltd. (VanPile) is seeking an Intermediate Project Controls Specialist to join our team at our Head Office in North Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Project Controls Manager and working closely with Project Managers and operational teams, this position plays a critical role in planning, monitoring, and controlling project performance across multiple projects.

About the Role

As an Intermediate Project Controls Specialist, you will support project teams throughout the project lifecycle by establishing and maintaining effective project control systems, developing accurate reporting, monitoring project performance, and providing valuable forecasting and analytical insights.

Key Responsibilities

- Convert proposal estimates into detailed project budgets and control baselines
- Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), cost codes, and project budgets
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly project performance reporting
- Analyze cost and schedule variances and provide forecasting insights
- Support project managers with cost, schedule, change, and risk management activities
- Maintain and update project risk registers
- Review project contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
- Support project change management processes, including tracking and documentation
- Develop and maintain project cash flow forecasts




- Ensure compliance with corporate project controls standards and procedures
- Prepare internal and external project performance reports
- Assist with claims documentation and substantiation for complex projects
- Provide project controls guidance and strategic recommendations to project teams
- Collaborate closely with project managers, project coordinators, and contract specialists
- Coach and mentor project staff on project controls processes and best practices

Qualifications & Experience

Required

- Minimum 5 years of Project Controls experience within heavy civil, marine, industrial, energy, or construction projects
- Demonstrated success supporting fixed-price, unit-rate, or EPC project environments
- Strong understanding of:
- • Cost management
- Schedule management
- Change management
- Risk management
- Forecasting and reporting
- Experience reviewing and interpreting project contracts
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective project control systems
- Experience preparing management reports and performance dashboards
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred
- Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Business, or related degree/diploma
- Experience with Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
- Experience with ERP systems and project cost management software
- Knowledge of claims management and contract administration
- Professional certification such as PMP, AACE, CCP, or equivalent is considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per year The actual salary offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on job‑related factors, including relevant experience, years of experience, qualifications, internal equity, and Carlson Construction Group’s compensation policy.

Work Arrangement: A hybrid schedule consisting of four days in the office and one day working from home per week.
