Quality Assurance Technician

What we are looking for
Reporting to the QA Manager, the QA Technician is responsible for collecting samples, completing analysis, and recording results in the Quality Assurance lab to ensure a safe, quality product is consistently produced for commercial distribution. The QA Technician will also assist and support the QA Department in maintaining the organizations applicable food safety programs/certifications, corporate food safety policies and quality and regulatory compliance standards. This position will involve frequent communication with the Farm Manager, Head Grower,
Vertical Farming Technician Leads and the Farm Operations team.
The focus of the QA Technician will be on the operating principles of the business which are Build, Farm, and Sell.

Quality Assurance:
- Gather samples in an aseptic manner.
- Complete microbiological analyses as per QA and Health & Safety protocols.
- Handle and dispose of samples and test materials safely and aseptically.
- Calibrate all lab equipment as required.
- Hold and release product as directed.
- Test samples and record and communicate results to necessary personnel.
- Enter all results in electronic formats and generate reports.
- Participate in the food safety program on anything food or quality related.
- A variety of quality assurance tasks as required by the QA Manager and operational needs.
Safety (Food, OHS) & Production:
- Regularly ensure that all of the company’s food safety procedures is verified, and up to date with any changes communicated to employees in a timely manner.
- Adhere, safeguard and comply with the Standard Sanitization Operating Procedures, Standard Operation Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Valuable Manufacturing Practice always without exception.
- Always adhere to safety rules and regulations without exception.
- Ensure the safe use and storage of all cleaning supplies.
- Follow GoodLeaf Farms Employee Practices and Food Safety Policy and Occupational Health and Safety Policy.
- Report unsafe and faulty equipment, fixtures, and processes to supervisor.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, or related field of study.
- Experience with the proper and safe handling of pathogens.
- ·QA/QC experience in food manufacturing is a strong asset.
- Experience in operating MDS systems and HACCP/Food Safety training is an asset for this position
- Working knowledge of various Analytical Instruments necessary
