Job Title: Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Specialist (L3)
Location: Remote (Canada)
Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Specialist (L3) to work closely with one of its prominent customers. This is a high-visibility role across enabling delivery units, focused on enterprise Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions, particularly Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing solutions that address customer requirements, with an application-down approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
- Implement enterprise PaaS solutions based on Red Hat OpenShift across various IaaS platforms, including OpenStack, VMware, and public cloud.
- Manage and support OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Red Hat, KVM virtualization, and VMware environments.
- Work as a technology consultant, administrator, or engineer in complex, large-scale enterprise and customer-facing environments.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of Red Hat CoreOS (RHCOS).
- Deploy the latest versions of OpenShift with CoreOS as the operating system.
- Support migrations from OpenShift 3.x to 4.x.
- Implement and manage OpenShift ecosystem tools for logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Work with virtualization, container-native storage, and OpenStack technologies.
- Apply knowledge of networking fundamentals, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), cluster and resource management, and cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and IBM Cloud.
- Implement Kubernetes security in accordance with best practices.
- Support GitOps-based platform and application deployments.
- Work with container-native storage solutions, including Ceph, Gluster, and OCS.
- Apply DevOps principles and work with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and other DevOps tools.
- Assist with application migration and assessment across different languages and technologies, including Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, Terraform, WAS, and WebLogic, to open-source solutions involving Docker or Kubernetes frameworks.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in a customer-facing positions as a technology Consultant/Admin
- 6+ years experience on OpenShift or related technologies with hands on experience.
- Excellent hands on experience on Docker in setting up and managing private Docker Trusted Registry (DTR).
- Working knowledge on technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Hands on experience with OpenShift manual/automated (UPI/IPI) deployment and managing multiple environments and clusters.
- Familiar with industry best practices and fluent in explaining the same to customers
- Experience/Knowledge on micro services deployments and auto Scaling. Excellent knowledge of application development tools and software life cycle processes.
- Must Have Hands on experience on OpenShift or Kubernetes set up installation & administration.
- Well versed with basic networking fundamentals, Cluster & Resource management and Cloud deployment (AWS/Azure/other cloud platforms), including monitoring systems, logging and security implementation.
- Positive exposure to DevOps principles, CI/CD, Continuous Deployment Pipelines using Jenkins.
- Familiarity to industry leading orchestration tools like Ansible, or similar products.
- Software development process knowledge in an agile environment with a focus on Devops with CI/CD.
- Quick learner and ability to present solutions and complex technical aspects to different levels of audiences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate at different management levels.
