Registered Psychologist or MSW Therapist

Focused Solutions Counselling & Coaching is seeking an experienced Registered Psychologist or clinically experienced MSW Registered Social Worker to join our established Canmore practice as an independent contractor.

This opportunity may be particularly appealing to:

- A clinician working part-time for government, Recovery Alberta, a hospital, school district or another organization
- A Calgary, Cochrane or Bow Valley clinician interested in creating a regular “mountain practice” day
- An established professional gradually transitioning into private practice
- A clinician seeking a small supplementary caseload of three or more appointments per week
- A practitioner looking for the flexibility to develop a larger part-time or full-time private-practice caseload

Focused Solutions has served Canmore and the Bow Valley since 2009. Our goal is to create a collaborative group practice where experienced clinicians can maintain their professional independence without having to establish and administer a private practice alone. What the practice provides

Although occasional virtual appointments may be available, this opportunity is intended primarily for clinicians who want to provide in-person counselling in Canmore.

Areas of particular interest

We welcome clinicians with experience or interest in one or more of the following:

- Neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism
- Substance use, addictions and behavioural addictions
- Children and adolescents
- Men’s mental health




- Individual counselling
- Couples or family counselling
- Trauma-informed therapy
- Psychological assessment

These areas are not strict requirements. We are also interested in hearing from experienced general practitioners who would be a strong professional and interpersonal fit with the practice.

Applicants must

- Be a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists; or
- Hold an MSW and be a Registered Social Worker in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers
- Have appropriate education, training and competence for the services they intend to provide
- Carry their own professional liability insurance
- Be comfortable practising independently while contributing to a collegial group-practice environment
- Maintain their own professional registration, continuing competence and record-keeping obligations
- Be eligible to provide services reimbursed by commonly used extended-health benefit plans
- Be willing to offer regular in-person availability in Canmore

RCSW designation is an asset but is not required. Experienced registered social workers should be prepared to confirm the extent to which their services are recognized by major third-party insurers. The person we hope to find:
