Lake Lodge, Nunavut – Remote Site Construction Labourer – Entry Level Construction / Remote Site Operations Reports To: Site Supervisor, Construction Supervisor, or Project Manager Shift Length: 12-hour shifts Schedule: 4 Weeks On / 2 Weeks Off Rotation Location: Lake Lodge, Nunavut – Fly-In/Fly-Out Employment Type: Project-Based / Contract We are seeking motivated and dependable Entry-Level Construction/Carpentry Labourer to join our team at the Lake Lodge remote site in Nunavut . This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands‑on experience in construction and remote‑site operations. Previous carpentry experience is an asset.
The Construction/carpentry Labourer will support skilled tradespeople, supervisors, and other site personnel with a variety of general construction and site‑maintenance activities. Duties may include moving materials, loading and unloading supplies, maintaining clean and organized work areas, snow and ice removal, assisting with basic construction activities, and performing other general labour duties as assigned. The successful candidate must be comfortable performing physically demanding work during 12-hour shifts and living and working in a remote northern environment on a 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule .
Employees are expected to comply with all client‑specific safety requirements, including WHMIS, hazard assessments, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), toolbox talks, and established safe‑work procedures. Construction & General Labour Duties Assist skilled tradespeople and construction crews with day‑to‑day construction activities. Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.
Move freight and materials to designated work and storage areas. Assist with the setup and cleanup of construction work areas. Perform basic manual labour tasks using hand tools and other approved equipment.
Assist with material preparation and handling as directed by supervisors or trades personnel. Remove construction debris and dispose of waste in designated areas according to site requirements. Assist with receiving, sorting, staging, and distributing materials and supplies.
Support site setup, mobilization, demobilization, and general project activities as required. Perform snow and ice removal around work areas, walkways, entrances, emergency exits, and access points. Use shovels, snow‑removal equipment, ice‑melt products,
and caution signage as required.
Assist with general site maintenance and housekeeping duties. Report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, hazards, spills, maintenance concerns, or other safety issues immediately. Support emergency cleanup or site‑maintenance activities when required.
Perform additional general labour duties based on project and operational requirements. Follow all Kitikmeot Solutions and our client health and safety policies and procedures. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times while performing assigned duties.
Identify and report workplace hazards and unsafe conditions immediately. Follow established safe‑work procedures when using tools, equipment, and handling materials. Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment, vehicles, construction activities, and changing site conditions.
Use proper lifting and material‑handling techniques. Immediately report injuries, incidents, near misses, and damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor.
Reliable: Reports to work on time, prepared for scheduled shifts, and consistently completes assigned responsibilities.
Willingness to Learn: Demonstrates a positive attitude toward training, feedback, and learning new construction and site skills. Works cooperatively with supervisors, tradespeople, and other members of the construction and site team.
Adaptability: Comfortable performing a variety of duties and adjusting to changing project and site requirements.
Respectful: Contributes to an inclusive workplace and demonstrates respect for colleagues from diverse cultural and community backgrounds. No previous construction experience required but it will be an asset – entry‑level candidates are encouraged to apply. Must be willing and able to work a 4 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule at a remote site in Nunavut.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and general holidays as operationally required. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs .
Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in changing and potentially extreme northern weather conditions.
Willingness to complete all required company and site‑specific training. Must meet all client and project site‑access requirements.
Assets The following are considered assets but are not required : Previous construction, general labour, maintenance, or industrial experience. Previous experience working at a remote camp, mine, construction site CSTS or other construction safety training. Previous experience working with diverse teams, including Indigenous and Inuit employees and communities.
Regular walking throughout camp facilities and operational areas. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme northern weather. Ability to travel by aircraft and/or ground transportation to remote project locations.
Ability to safely navigate camp facilities, stairs, uneven surfaces, and outdoor areas and weather conditions as required. Project‑based role with primary work performed at a remote camp in Nunavut . Fly‑in/fly‑out arrangement from designated travel hubs.
Shared or designated camp accommodations and meals provided while on site. Work may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and general holidays depending on operational and employee needs. Regular interaction with employees working multiple shifts and schedules.
Work directly with a diverse workforce and contribute to Indigenous employee engagement, development, and retention. Prospect to build experience in remote camp operations and Indigenous workforce relations. Meals and accommodations provided while on site.
This position works on a rotational fly‑in/fly‑out schedule at a remote project site in Nunavut. Site locations are in remote settings requiring air and/or ground transportation. Employees may be required to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and general holidays depending on site requirements.
