Surface Restoration Technician Apprentice

Tile Alive is looking for a reliable, motivated apprentice to join our surface restoration team. No previous restoration experience is required. Training will be provided.

This is a hands-on position involving residential and commercial surface restoration throughout Hamilton, the GTA, Niagara, Brant County, and Waterloo Region.

Services and Work May Include:

- Natural stone restoration and cleaning for floors, countertops, and showers
- Marble, granite, limestone, travertine, terrazzo, and other natural stone restoration
- Grout and silicone removal and replacement
- Tile and grout deep cleaning
- Grout colour sealing
- Shower restoration
- Concrete grinding for epoxy floor preparation
- Residential epoxy floor installation
- Tub and tile reglazing
- Loading and unloading tools, equipment, and materials
- Cleaning and organizing company vehicles and equipment
- Equipment maintenance
- Shop organization and inventory
- Picking up materials and completing occasional work-related errands

Schedule and Transportation: Projects generally begin at 9:00 AM sharp.

Depending on the job location, employees may meet at the job site or meet in the Dundas/Hamilton area at approximately 8:00 AM for departure.

Applicants with their own reliable transportation are preferred.

For candidates without a vehicle,



arrangements may be possible to meet at the McMaster University bus terminal for transportation in a company vehicle.

Some jobs may occasionally require longer days, earlier travel, or weekend work depending on project requirements.

Requirements

- Reliable and punctual
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Able to follow instructions carefully
- Comfortable performing physical work throughout the day
- Able to lift and move tools, equipment, and materials
- Must maintain good personal hygiene and arrive for work clean and professionally presentable
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Valid driver’s licence is preferred
- Must be willing to complete a criminal record/background check if requested
- A current résumé with employment references must be provided

Experience in construction, flooring, tile, stone, renovation, cleaning, automotive detailing, painting, or other hands-on trades is an asset but is not required. The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training in skilled stone and surface restoration techniques, equipment operation, job-site preparation, finishing procedures, and customer-service standards.

After successful completion of the 90-day probationary period, the position is eligible for employee benefits, including extended health, prescription drug, dental, vision, and paramedical coverage such as physiotherapy and chiropractic services, subject to the final group benefits plan.
