Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In this vital role, you will provide expert nursing care to our most fragile patients—newborns requiring specialized, intensive medical attention. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonatal patients with complex medical needs, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and perform medical procedures with precision, adhering to established protocols.
- Collaborate closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and progress notes.
- Educate families on neonatal care practices, discharge instructions, and ongoing health management to empower them in caring for their newborns.
- Conduct phlebotomy and laboratory specimen collection accurately while maintaining strict infection control standards.
- Manage pain effectively using evidence-based strategies tailored for neonatal patients, ensuring minimal discomfort during procedures.
Experience
- Valid RN license with current state registration required; additional certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working in hospital settings with a focus on acute care for neonates or pediatrics.
- Prior experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
- Strong background in patient care within neonatal intensive care units or similar high-acuity environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology relevant to neonatal and pediatric nursing practices.
- Experience with medication administration, laboratory procedures including phlebotomy, and pain management techniques specific to newborns.
- Familiarity with case management principles, family-centered care approaches, and discharge planning for neonatal patients is advantageous.
