About the School
Canada Royal Arts High School is an independent secondary school located in Vancouver, British Columbia. We provide a supportive, inclusive, and academically focused learning setting for students in Grades 8–12. Our school is committed to academic excellence, personalized education, student development, and preparing students for admission to universities in Canada and internationally.
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated School Principal & English Teacher to lead the school’s academic and administrative operations while teaching secondary-level English courses.
Key Responsibilities
School Leadership and Administration
- Lead the school’s academic programs and daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with BC Ministry of Education requirements and independent school policies.
- Oversee curriculum planning, teacher supervision, student assessment, and school improvement.
- Manage and support teachers and administrative staff.
- Maintain accurate academic, attendance, and school records.
- Support student discipline, safety, well-being, and academic success.
- Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, education authorities, and community partners.
- Support staff recruitment, evaluation, training, and professional development.
English Teaching
- Teach English Language Arts courses for Grades 8–12.
- Develop lesson plans aligned with the BC Curriculum.
- Assess student learning through assignments, presentations, tests, and projects.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to students.
- Support international students and English-language learners.
- Maintain effective classroom management and high academic standards.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working as a school principal is required.
- Valid BC Teaching Certificate or Independent School Teaching Certificate (ISTC).
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, or a related field.
- Experience teaching secondary-level English within the BC Curriculum.
- Strong knowledge of BC graduation requirements, Ministry requirements, and independent school operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing teachers, administrative staff, students, and school programs.
- Excellent leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrative staff.
- Ability to complete all required criminal record and background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a BC independent school.
- Experience with BC Ministry of Education inspections and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting international students and English-language learners.
- Experience teaching AP-level courses.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an asset.
