Responsibilities
PRIMARY PURPOSE The Senior Advisor, Zero Emissions is responsible for analyzing energy and other technology or operational attributes to support decision-making and business transformation to support the organization’s goal of achieving zero tailpipe emissions by 2050 and expanding deployment of zero-emission buses. This role develops technical reports and provides strategic and technical guidance across the organization on zero-emission vehicles, performance, issues, risks and trends.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develops methods, techniques, and models to ensure successful delivery and execution of work that is of high enterprise impact, risk and complexity, in support of evidence-based decision-making for business transformation. Including researching and analyzing transit service, zero-emission vehicle attributes, operations, charging, trends and issues.
Designs, develops and maintains advanced analytical frameworks, dashboards, key performance indicators, and performance reporting systems to monitor zero-emission fleet operations, infrastructure performance, energy consumption, reliability and organizational objectives
Develops and maintains methodologies and parameters for energy modelling, ensuring accuracy and relevance to zero-emission bus deployments. Develops processes to ensure consistency and reliability of analyses.
Conducts feasibility studies to assess the viability and effectiveness of incorporating zero-emission buses and other technologies into transit operations and provide recommendations to optimize the operation and deployment of zero-emission buses including changes to operating workflow and staffing.
Develops technical reports,
business cases and presentation materials to support discussions with Executives, internal and external stakeholders on technology transformation.
Collaborates and provides strategic guidance and technical expertise to senior leaders and professionals across the organization on technology, zero-emission vehicles, performance, issues, risks and trends to influence decisions.
Supports procurement activities and provides functional requirements for application systems related to zero-emission technologies.
Oversees the work of contractors and consultants, typically related to zero-emission bus modelling and deployment, and provides work direction, ensuring quality and alignment with organizational objectives.
Supports all program and project managers within Low Carbon Fleet Programs in decision-making for business transformation activities.
Manages reporting staff, including selection, development, coaching, managing performance, and all other people management practices.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: The requirements for this position are typically acquired through the completion of a university degree in engineering, data science, planning, mathematics, physics, or a related field.
Typically requires seven (7) years prior experience researching and analyzing data, extracting information, reporting results, as well as, producing presentation material and publications. Advanced skills in data science are an asset along with experience in machine learning.
Other Requirements
Proficiency in programming in Python, SQL, and Fabric
Proficiency in tools like Power BI and Tableau to develop Key Performance Indicators and Metrics are considered beneficial.
Knowledge of zero-emission bus technologies, including battery electric buses, hydrogen fuel cell buses, and charging infrastructure are considered beneficial.
Knowledge of resiliency, greenhouse gas analysis and reporting are considered beneficial
Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address critical and high-impact issues
Due to the strategic nature of this work, confidentiality is required
Solid written and verbal communication skills to write and deliver well-prepared comments, procedures, reports, and presentations.
Advanced skills in managing complex, high risk and high-uncertainty challenges where solutions are unknown, unproven or developing.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

37.5 hours per week.

Hybrid This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within the Metro Vancouver area.
Rate of Pay
The salary for this position ranges from $91,840 - $137,760 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role. We aim to provide competitive pay that reflects your professional background and expertise. We want to ensure our offer will align with your strengths considering experience, skills, and internal equity to offer a fair and equitable salary. The Total Compensation Package, which includes Extended Health, Dental, Transit Pass and enrollment in the Public Service Pension Plan as well as other employment offerings will be discussed in detail as your application progresses.
