Meota Gas Co-operative Association Ltd. (Meota) is currently accepting resumes for a Gas Utility Operator – Service Technician/Gas Fitter.

Meota is a member owned co-operative based out of Priddis, Alberta, providing natural gas for heating to its over 950 rural customers around the Priddis area. Priddis is a hamlet in Alberta, within Foothills County. The hamlet is located approximately 10 kilometres west of Calgary's southern city limits

Position Overview:

We're looking for someone who is motivated, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and interested in personal growth and training. We offer a team-oriented but autonomous work environment. Experience with project management and equipment operation is preferred. If you are someone who approaches work with curiosity and has the courage to innovate, then this role is for you.

Position is based out of Priddis.

The opportunity would be of interest to individuals pursuing a secure and long-term employment position with growth opportunities at a reputable natural gas utility established in 1962.

Experience working around natural gas systems, pressure systems, piping, regulators or related oilfield/gas industry operations is considered an asset. Previous experience specifically as a Gas Utility Operator or Gas Fitter is preferred, but not required. Meota is willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong mechanical ability, safety awareness and a willingness to learn.

What Your Role is:

· Assist with installation and maintenance natural of gas utility systems including, gas distribution main lines, services and meters

· Perform butt fusion,



electrofusion and mechanical fitting installations

· Conduct pressure testing and air testing on new installations

· Build and install meter sets to Code

· Inspect, maintain, and rebuild block valves and regulators

· Perform Pressure Factor Measurement testing and annual pressure checks

· Conduct station inspections, alarm testing and station maintenance

· Ensure compliance with OH&S;, AER, CSA, Technical Standards and Operational requirements

· Safely operate a variety of equipment, small tools and instruments

· Maintain related records and general files, complete forms and records

· Plan and manage construction projects including sub-contractor management

· Identify and document any incidence of gas loss from company and customer facilities

· Promote good working relations with external and internal contacts

· Perform other related duties and special projects as required

· May be called out to assist in emergencies on a 24-hour basis (rotational)

Qualifications and Skills:

· Previous experience working with natural gas systems, pressure systems, piping systems, regulators or related oilfield/gas operations

· Utility Operator and/or Gas Fitting Ticket, including relevant safety certificates is strongly preferred

· Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training and certification

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability





· Ability to work safely independently and within a small team environment

· Knowledge of company standards, policies and procedures pertaining to the gas distribution system is desirable

· Comfortable performing a wide variety of operational, maintenance, construction and emergency response tasks

· Strong understanding of safety policies, procedures and Occupational Health and Safety regulations is desirable

· Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills

· Must have a valid Alberta Class '5' drivers license and may be required to obtain training in operator’s certificate

· Provide Emergency Response when required to the level of official qualifications

· Reporting using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
