Shop Coordinator / Production Planner

We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented Shop Coordinator / Production Planner to help manage the flow of jobs through our fabrication shop.

This is a hands-on coordination role responsible for reviewing upcoming jobs, determining the most efficient production sequence, communicating job-specific requirements to the shop, and helping ensure our equipment and employees are being utilized efficiently.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of production workflow and be able to look ahead, identify potential issues, and make decisions that keep work moving through the shop.

Key Responsibilities

- Review upcoming jobs and the production schedule for the week ahead.
- Review drawings, job details, materials, edge profiles, fabrication requirements and other job-specific information before production begins.
- Prepare clear job-specific notes and instructions for fabricators, the floor supervisor and quality control.
- Determine the appropriate machine and production process for each piece of a job.
- Determine the most efficient order and sequence in which jobs should be processed.
- Coordinate workflow to keep CNCs, saws and other production equipment operating efficiently and minimize machine downtime.
- Balance workloads between different machines and production areas to prevent bottlenecks.
- Work closely with the Floor Supervisor to ensure jobs move through production according to schedule.
- Identify potential production problems before they reach the shop floor.
- Ensure special job requirements are clearly communicated to the appropriate employees.
- Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure job requirements and quality expectations are understood.
- Monitor the progress of jobs through production and adjust priorities when required.
- Help identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, workflow and machine utilization.




- Ensure jobs are properly prepared and ready for production before they are released to the shop.
- Communicate scheduling conflicts, missing information, material issues or other potential delays to management.

What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who can see the big picture of the entire production floor, while still paying close attention to the details of each individual job. You should be comfortable making decisions about:

- Which machine or process should be used for each piece.
- Which jobs should be run first.
- How to sequence work to keep machines productive.
- How to avoid production bottlenecks.
- When production priorities need to change.
- What information the fabrication team needs before beginning a job.

Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, production planning or shop coordination is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the countertop, stone fabrication.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and production information.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple jobs and changing production requirements.
- Comfortable making production decisions and communicating those decisions clearly.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with production employees, supervisors and management.
- Good computer skills and willingness to learn our production and scheduling software.

You will play an important role in ensuring that the right job is on the right machine at the right time, while making sure our fabrication team has the information they need to produce quality work efficiently.
