Job Summary — Shop & Equipment Manager The Shop & Equipment Manager is responsible for maintaining an organized, secure, and accountable shop while ensuring company equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles are properly controlled and ready to support field operations.

This position serves as the central point of accountability for anything entering or leaving the shop. The successful candidate must be organized, consistent, comfortable enforcing procedures, and capable of maintaining accurate records. The role requires someone who will actively manage the shop rather than simply react to requests throughout the day.

Key responsibilities include

- Maintain the overall cleanliness, organization, and safety of the shop, yard, storage areas, and disposal areas.
- Manage the company equipment and tool inventory, including sign-out, return, assignment, condition, and location.
- Ensure equipment movements are accurately recorded and regularly reconcile physical inventory against company records.
- Follow up directly with employees regarding overdue, missing, damaged, or improperly returned equipment.
- Receive returned equipment, inspect it, ensure it is returned to its designated location, and identify required repairs or maintenance.
- Prepare and stage equipment and materials required for upcoming projects.

- Receive deliveries and ensure materials and equipment are directed to the correct project or storage location.
- Maintain organized material storage and identify excess, reusable, damaged, or disposable materials.
- Coordinate garbage, recycling, scrap, and disposal so these areas remain controlled and do not become dumping grounds.
- Assist with company vehicle oversight, including cleanliness, equipment stored in vehicles, scheduled maintenance, and required records.
- Maintain accurate electronic and/or physical inventory records and participate in regular equipment audits.
- Identify recurring losses, process failures, or accountability issues and report them to the Operations Manager.
- Work closely with Project Managers and field staff to ensure crews have what they need without sacrificing inventory control.
- Establish and maintain designated locations for tools, equipment, consumables, and project materials.
- Support purchasing and advise management when commonly used stock or consumables require replenishment.
- Ensure employees follow established shop, equipment, vehicle, and material-control procedures.
