RESPONSIBILITIES
TASKS
- Assess the current status of a given area for sustainable forest management
- Conduct a post-cut assessment to determine whether the residual forest that was forecasted during the tree marking audit matches the conditions after the harvest is complete
- Conduct forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement
- Conduct ongoing inspections to ensure the development of good quality forest crops
- Display spatial data using Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Help forest managers in planning access routes and forest roads
- Monitor the effectiveness of silvicultural practices
- Supervise forest inventory cruises, surveys and field measurement
- Supervise technical functions in silvicultural operation
- Supervise the construction of access routes and forest roads
- Update computerized forest management information system
- Monitor activities of logging companies and contractors
- Enforce environmental, fire safety and accident prevention regulation
- Develop and maintain computer databases
