Job Title: Specialist, Web and Visual Design

Reports to: Manager, Marketing and Communications

Location: Cor Van Raay YMCA at Cavendish Farms Centre

Job Summary The Specialist, Web and Visual Design serves the mission of the YMCA of Lethbridge through the design, development, and administration of the Association website and digital marketing tools as well as creation of visual assets using photography, video, templates, custom design, and brand standards to support marketing and communications initiatives. The main goals of this position are:

1. Maintain and enhance the Association website and digital marketing tools.
2. Create and manage effective visual assets for digital and print marketing and communications.
3. Support successful development and execution of campaigns and projects in collaboration with Marketing & Communications team, Association leadership, and suppliers and vendors.

Nature & Scope The Specialist, Web and Visual Design will support the Association as part of the Social Impact department through web and visual design. The responsibilities for this position are, but not limited to:

· Leadership and Strategic Planning o Exemplify the YMCA of Lethbridge’s Core Values of caring, honesty, inclusiveness, respect, and responsibility.

o Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of goals and objectives across the Association.

o Promote a positive, inclusive work environment, responding to general inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner and in accordance with Association policies and guidelines.

o Be a YMCA ambassador by engaging in and promoting practices and frameworks which centre diversity, equity,



inclusion, and belonging.

o Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety, incident management and emergency response.

o Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, responding to needs or requests, to obtain or supply information with appropriate tact.

o Consistently communicate status updates on projects to the necessary stakeholders.

· Organizational and Department Management o Cultivate an understanding of the YMCA Brand Identity and culture, reflect this in work product, and assist other stakeholders in their understanding of the YMCA brand.

o Participate in project management to ensure request prioritization, service level timelines, and scheduling.

o Maintain and enhance development and design of the YMCA website, including web and visual design, layout, navigation, accessible user experience, performance, troubleshooting, and collaborating across the Association to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

o Maintain and enhance digital marketing tools including digital displays.

o Create content for print and digital marketing and communications, including posters, brochures, booklets, banners, templates, digital displays, social media, email campaigns and installations.

o Coordinate and support vendor management including approving proofs, monitoring quality, coordinating production, complying with budget.

o Plan, capture, edit, manage, and utilize photo and video content from Association initiatives.

o Produce short-form video content, including planning, filming, editing, audio, basic motion graphics, and formatting for various digital platforms.

o Ensure ongoing compliance including in privacy, licensing, accessibility standards, records retention, and consent requirements.

o Provide consultation, education, and advice to internal stakeholders to find the most effective solution to department needs, as well as revising content based on feedback.

o Advise on web and visual design and brand execution, as well as web and visual design tools, systems, and processes.

o Research, recommend, and model industry best practices to recognize trends and opportunities.

o Maintain applicable equipment, software, licenses, backups, and file management practices on SharePoint and hard drives.

o Carry out tasks requiring significant mental concentration and the use of analytical methods and processes regularly.

o Work on diversified tasks to make progress towards team objectives.

o Contribute to the creation and implementation of Association policies and guidelines as they relate to Web and Visual Design.

o Attend all required YMCA trainings and recertifications.

· Financial Management and Philanthropic Involvement o Model the Association’s dedication to philanthropy.





o Reflect the charitable nature of the Association within web and visual design.

o Participate in Fund Development Initiatives to further the impact of team efforts.

o Adhere to the team’s annual budget, managing expenses within your area and ensuring proper coding and documentation is provided.

· External Relations and Advocacy o Be a YMCA ambassador and strategic leader in the community by developing partnerships and relationships through community groups, committee work, and outreach opportunities.

o Educate others on Web and Visual Design initiatives and projects.

o Follow policies regarding confidentiality to safeguard data and information and handle sensitive information with a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality.

o Assess current community needs and identify recommendations for external growth opportunities of where to focus Association strategic growth efforts.

Physical/Special Demands

· This position may include the ability to lift 20 kg

Qualifications and Experience

· Certificate program in Graphic Design, Multi-Media, Advertising or equivalent

· Minimum of 1+ years of practical or lived experience is required

· Considerable knowledge in marketing principles and best practices

· Intermediate to expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite programs, Adobe, and other web and design tools

· Previous non-profit experience is considered an asset

· Evidence of an acceptable Police Information Check and Child Intervention Check
