Job Summary:

Kanex Industries is a Canadian-owned steel fabrication and installation specialist based in Langley. With over 18 years of expertise, we reliably deliver high-quality structural and miscellaneous steelwork across the industry.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Steel Estimator with a minimum of 3 years’ experience to join our dynamic team. Previous roles in the steel industry are an asset. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting specifications, structural, architectural and civil drawings for a variety of projects across residential, commercial and industrial sectors and completing material takeoffs, hours and tender letters.

Your reliability and attention to detail will ensure we deliver the high-quality products our customers expect.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

- Review Structural, Architectural and Civil drawings, Specifications, and other bid documents
- Communicate with clients, consultants, and general contractors regarding project scope and pricing
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for structural and miscellaneous steel projects across residential, commercial and industrial projects
- Utilize Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, Excel, Word, Procore, Building Connected, SharePoint and other construction estimating tools
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors




- Prepare competitive bid proposals and tender submissions
- Identify project risks and opportunities during the estimating process
- Collaborate with project managers, detailers, and production teams to ensure accurate project planning
- Collaborate with Change Order management as projects progress and change

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in structural and miscellaneous steel
- Strong ability to interpret structural, architectural and civil drawings
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and installation processes
- Strong Ability utilizing estimating software
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge in mathematics and unit conversion
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of local construction practices and building codes

Experience:

- Proven experience in Steel Estimation: 3 years (required)
- Previous roles in the steel industry are an asset
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Bluebeam, Excel and Word

Language:

- English (required)

Work Location: In person Pay: $55,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
