Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic STEM Instructor to inspire young learners through robotics, coding, science and engineering. In this paid role, you will design engaging lessons that encourage children to build, experiment, program and solve problems through practical activities.

From creating easy games and animations to building and programming robots, you will help students develop technical skills, creativity and confidence. The ideal candidate can make complex ideas accessible and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, testing ideas and learning from mistakes.

Duties

- Plan and deliver engaging STEM lessons with a solid focus on robotics, coding and engineering.
- Introduce programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, variables and debugging through activities suited to students’ ages and abilities.
- Teach students to create games, animations and interactive stories using platforms such as Scratch, ScratchJr or similar tools.
- Guide students in building and programming robots, exploring how motors, sensors and simple mechanisms work together.
- Develop robotics challenges such as navigating obstacle courses, responding to sensor inputs and completing specific tasks.
- Lead practical science experiments and engineering projects that connect classroom learning to everyday applications.
- Encourage students to plan, build, test and improve their designs while explaining their choices and troubleshooting problems.
- Adapt lessons for different learning needs,



providing clear guidance for beginners and additional challenges for more experienced students.
- Promote teamwork, communication and independent thinking through individual and group projects.
- Monitor student progress and share constructive feedback with students, colleagues and parents.
- Prepare lesson materials, organize robotics kits and devices, and ensure the safe use and care of equipment.

Skills and Qualifications

- Experience teaching or tutoring children in STEM, robotics, coding or related subjects.
- Practical familiarity with tools such as LEGO Education robotics kits, micro, Scratch, ScratchJr, Arduino or comparable platforms.
- Understanding of beginner programming concepts and the ability to explain them clearly to young learners.
- Confidence supporting students as they build, program, test and troubleshoot projects.
- Familiarity with Python or other text based programming languages is an asset.
- A background in education, computer science, engineering, science or a related field.
- Experience working with younger children and an understanding of their developmental needs.
- Strong classroom management, communication and organizational skills.
- Patience, creativity and flexibility when supporting students with different abilities and learning styles.
- A passion for helping children become confident creators, curious thinkers and capable problem solvers.

Pay: $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 9.0 – 20.0 per week
