SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Reporting to the Head of Retail and Food Services, the Supervisor, Boutique is responsible for the day-to-day operations and sales in the Boutiques. The candidate supervises, schedules and leads a team of Boutique Salespersons. They are responsible for customer service, cash management, visual merchandising, loss prevention, shrinkage and product knowledge and inventory. They are required to move between sites and pop-up shops.

The Supervisor, Boutique takes on the role of ambassador for the corporation by presenting it as a dynamic cultural institution. As such, they ensure that each staff member on the sales floor acts positively in accordance with the Corporation’s mission and mandate.

EDUCATION

- Successful completion of a secondary education

EXPERIENCE

- A minimum of 4 years retail experience
- Previous experience in training and supervising employees is a must;
- Experience working with computerized Point of Sales System;

- Experience in visual merchandising;
- Experience in preparing and managing staff scheduling;
- Experience with cash handling and reporting.

KNOWLEDGE

- Knowledge and keen interest in museums and culture;
- General knowledge of retail within cultural institutions and understanding of multicultural mandate;




- Knowledge of the gift industries;
- Knowledge of customer service standards and retail best practices.

ABILITIES

- Ability to communicate efficiently;
- Ability to initiate and delegate various retail activities, and meet deadlines;
- Ability to supervise employees with patience and leadership;
- Ability to function well and prioritize tasks during busy periods.
- Ability to lift more than 12 kilograms (26 pounds).
- Ability to communicate in both official languages (English & French).
- Ability to evaluate situations and act quickly effectively and calmly when required, while demonstrated positive judgement.
