Folktale Cider is looking for one more friendly, energetic person to join our close-knit tasting room crew for the fall season!
We’re a family-run cidery and orchard in Oyama, serving small-batch cider made from local apples. Our tasting lounge is casual, welcoming and community-focused, with cider flights, full menu from our Lil’ Reds Café, specialty coffees, family activities and regular events throughout the fall.
The Role
As a Tasting Room Associate, you’ll help create a warm, memorable experience for everyone who walks through our doors. We offer counter-service, so the majority of customer interaction happens behind the bar. This is a hands-on position where everyone pitches in. You may be pouring cider one minute, making a latte the next, clearing tables or helping keep an eye on our outdoor family areas.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Welcoming guests and educating them on our cider offerings
- Taking orders and processing payments through our POS
- Pouring cider flights, glasses and other beverages
- Preparing premium coffees and non-alcoholic beverages
- Keeping the bar, tasting room and guest areas clean and organized
- Bussing and resetting tables
- Washing and polishing glassware
- Restocking cider, beverages and supplies
- Stocking and organizing our retail cider cooler
- Helping with opening and closing duties
- Monitoring our children’s activity areas and helping ensure rules are followed
- Assisting with busy events, trivia nights and Harvest Dinners
Availability This position will average approximately 14–20 hours per week, although hours may vary depending on events and business levels.
We are specifically looking for someone available for:
- Thursday evenings for Trivia Nights
- Friday evenings for various events
- Sundays for Harvest Dinners
- Closing shifts, which typically run until 9pm
Additional weekday and weekend shifts may be available. Must-haves:
- 19 years of age or older
- Valid Serving It Right certification
- Reliable availability for the key shifts listed above
- Friendly, positive attitude
- Comfortable working in a busy, guest-facing setting
- Willingness to jump between different tasks and help wherever needed
- Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a small team
Bonus points if you:
- Have previous serving, bartending, café or hospitality experience
- Have experience making espresso-based drinks
- Have knowledge about craft cider and local agriculture
Experience is an asset, but personality, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important to us.
