Wilshire Works Inc. is an entrepreneurial manufacturing company established in 2004. We develop and manufacture creative solutions for healthcare and industrial applications.
We are now seeking a recent electrical, mechanical, process, or mechatronic engineering graduate or 2nd or 3rd-year co-op student who enjoys hands-on problem-solving and wants to apply engineering knowledge in a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment.
What You'll Work On
Wilshire Works has a variety of projects in the pipeline to support the installation of a new process production line. If you lack some of the technical skill sets listed below, but wish to learn them, that’s great. - Strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience in getting your hands dirty
- Safe working habits
- Problem-solving skills
- Basic manual drafting or CAD design skills
- Machine shop experience
- Ability to work at heights
- Setting up and printing on a 3D printer
- Comfortable with working on 12-24VDC and household voltage applications
- Basic understanding of production-line automation and PLC controls
- Experience with basic stick construction
- Experience with Raspberry Pi and Arduino process control systems
Some Tasks
- Equipment refurbishment and installation
- Develop preventive maintenance protocols
- Quality control, component testing and data analysis
- New product development and prototyping
- Develop process and workstation ergonomics improvements
- Install security and monitoring systems
- When needed, assist production staff with assembly, packaging and shipping
- You may also work on custom fabrication projects, including trailer modification, using welding equipment, composite materials and work on other mechanical or electrical projects
- Landscaping and snow clearing tasks when needed
Technical Skills Experience with the following is an asset, but training is provided:
- CAD and 3D printing
- Machine-shop equipment
- Soldering and electrical wiring
- Raspberry Pi and Arduino and electronic projects
- PLC controls and troubleshooting
- MIG welding and oxy-acetylene fusion welding and brazing
- Basic timber frame construction
- Hand and power tool usage
We are looking for a technically minded person who demonstrates passion, curiosity, initiative, practical problem-solving, a willingness to learn and coach-ability.
Requirements
- Current 2nd or 3rd year Co-op student or recent college or university graduate in electrical, mechanical, process or mechatronic engineering
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment, inside and outside
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Able to work independently while contributing to a small team
- A 100% non-smoker or non-vaporer
Employees must have comfortable safety footwear and fitted medium-duty gloves. Wilshire Works provides additional PPE when required. Compensation & Hours
- Starting wage: $25/hour with opportunity to earn $30+/hour, depending on your skill sets
- Monthly increases based on demonstrated competence, safe work practices, productivity and independence
- Exceptional candidates may negotiate their starting wage
- Typical working hours: 9:30 a.m.– 6:00 p.m.
- Flex time available
Life in Bracebridge Work in the heart of Muskoka; a four-season tourist community with a base population of 17,000.
Bracebridge offers year-round outdoor recreation opportunities and many great amenities. Public transit operates six days a week, although the nearest bus stop is a 20-minute walk from our facility. A car is a convenient conveyance; however, a bicycle or e-bike may also work well until the snow flies.
Applicants from outside Muskoka should consider researching accommodation options in Bracebridge or within the surrounding area. Bring your hiking boots, mountain bike and fishing rod.

We encourage applicants to prepare and present at an interview a personal technical highlight portfolio featuring your noteworthy construction, electrical, electronic technical or engineering projects from school, work and personal experience or hobbies. Hopefully, you are able to include labelled photos (preferably with you in the picture). Use descriptive paragraphs that demonstrate:
- Your engineering knowledge and technical skills applied to the project
- What you learned in the process
- Demonstrate your creativity, innovation, problem-solving, initiative and persistence
- How you handled challenges and failures toward a solution. Brag a bit. Be prepared to share your failures and how you overcame them. If you didn’t fail during the project, it wasn’t difficult enough to include in a portfolio.
