Vocational Counsellor (Full-Time) – Richmond, BC

As a key member of our Employment Team, the Vocational Counsellor will assist people with diverse abilities to obtain and maintain competitive employment in the community. In addition, the position supports and works alongside clients in our HandyCrew Cooperative which provides program participants the opportunity to develop employment skills. You will empower individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve meaningful employment and community engagement.

You will provide comprehensive career guidance, develop personalized plans, and support clients throughout their journey toward independence and success.

YOUR IMPACT

- Complete a formal intake process for each individual which includes an assessment of skills and interests, developing Individual Employment Plans, and writing structured Training Plans.
- Deliver pre-employment training specific to individual needs, including identifying challenges, barriers and assistance they may need to gain meaningful employment.
- Develop work experience opportunities, supporting job search, job-matching,



on the job training and transportation training.
- Monitor placements, facilitating a variety of relationships (ie: employer, peers, staff).
- Promote group activities related to Supported Employment and Handycrew Cooperative.
- Job marketing and network with community service organizations to promote the Supported Employment Program.

YOUR CAPABILITIES:
- Relevant post-secondary education in related field and at least one year’s experience supporting people with developmental disabilities in a similar workplace.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification. Clear, current Criminal Records Check . Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact at all levels of an organization.
- Reliable problem solving, critical thinking and communication skills.

Pay: $53,400.00-$55,200.00 per year
