About the role
Blue Sky Hemp Ventures is seeking an organized, dependable individual to take ownership of day-to-day warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, material preparation, and warehouse housekeeping.
This is a hands-on position requiring someone who can work independently, organize competing priorities, and follow through on tasks with limited supervision. The successful candidate will help ensure that materials are accurately tracked, properly stored, and available when needed by production and other departments.
Responsibilities:
Shipping and Receiving
- Physically receive incoming ingredients, packaging, supplies, spare parts, and other items, including unloading trucks and inspecting deliveries.
- Verify received items against purchase orders and shipping documents, checking quantities, product identification, condition, and lot information where applicable.
- Accurately record receipts in the electronic inventory system and promptly report shortages, damage, or discrepancies.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, confirm items and quantities, complete required shipping documentation, and load trucks.
- Coordinate pickups and deliveries with internal staff and carriers as required.
Warehouse organization and housekeeping
- Put away received items promptly in their designated storage locations.
- Maintain clear identification of materials, storage locations, and inventory status.
- Keep warehouse spaces, shelving, bins, and staging areas organized and accessible.
- Perform regular housekeeping, including sweeping, cleaning floors, removing waste, and keeping aisles and work areas clear.
- Proactively identify and address storage and organization issues.
Inventory control
- Maintain accurate, current electronic inventory records that reflect physical stock and storage locations.
- Record material movements, transfers, issues to production, and returns promptly and accurately.
- Check discrepancies, assist with investigating their causes, and bring unresolved issues forward for review.
- Perform routine inventory checks and assist with scheduled counts, spot checks, and other inventory verification requests.
- Assist with cannabis inventory counts supporting Cannabis Tracking and Licensing System (CTLS) reporting.
- Notify the appropriate staff of shortages, low stock, or inventory concerns that could affect operations.
Production support
- Pick and stage ingredients and packaging components using planned picklists, production schedules, and ad hoc material requests.
- Confirm the correct items, quantities, and lots are selected and record their movement accurately.
- Communicate with production staff to prioritize requests and ensure materials are available when required.
- Receive unused materials back from production, verify quantities, and return them to the appropriate locations with accurate inventory records.
Equipment and safe work practices
- Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment safely for loading, unloading, and moving materials.
- Complete required equipment checks and report damage, defects, or unsafe conditions.
- Follow company procedures for material handling, traceability, cleanliness, and workplace safety.
Qualifications and skills
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving, warehousing, or inventory control.
- Forklift operating experience and the ability to demonstrate safe, competent operation.
- Comfortable using electronic inventory systems, computers, and basic spreadsheets.
- Strong attention to detail when checking quantities, identifying materials, and recording transactions.
- Ability to work independently, manage changing priorities,
and recognize what needs to be done without waiting for daily direction.
- Transparent communication skills and a cooperative approach to supporting production and other departments.
- Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including material handling, loading and unloading, and regular warehouse cleaning.
- Experience in a manufacturing or regulated production environment is an asset.
Success in this role means inventory records are reliable, materials are easy to locate, shipments and receipts are handled accurately, production receives the correct materials on time, and the warehouse remains clean and orderly.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Punctual and able to reliably commute to facility
- Must pass criminal background check
- Self starter and can manage own time wisely
- Able to work unsupervised, and within team environment.
Requirements:
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including scrubs, hair net, beard net, mask.
- Physically able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
- Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures, Forms, and work instructions.
- Maintain a safe work area and adhere to all company Health and Safety policies.
- Solid work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Acceptable results to a Criminal Record Check
