TITLE: Youth Mental Health Program Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
POSITION SUMMARY: Full Time
About Us: The Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention (RCSP) is a nonprofit organization that is committed to promoting mental well-being, raising awareness, reducing stigma, and providing education to reduce suicide, suicidal behaviors, and their impacts in Grande Prairie and surrounding area.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Youth Mental Health Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This position will lead the planning and implementation of our programs for children and youth ages 7-17. While youth programming will be the primary focus of the position, the successful candidate will also have opportunities to cross-train and facilitate RCSP's broader mental health, suicide prevention, and educational programs.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, facilitating engaging group learning, building community relationships, and creating environments where participants feel supported, connected, and comfortable talking about mental health.
You will lead the delivery of workshops, coordinate facilitators and program logistics, collaborate with community partners, and provide information and referrals when additional supports are needed.

Responsibilities
Program Coordination & Facilitation
- Lead and coordinate youth mental health programs and initiatives
- Plan and facilitate workshops, drop-in groups, sessions, and initiatives
- Create welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environments that encourage participation, connection, and learning
- Coordinate external contracted facilitators and community presenters as required
- Prepare program materials, supplies, equipment, and other logistics.
- Monitor participant needs and respond appropriately to concerns or behavioral issues.
- Participate in cross-training and facilitate other RCSP workshops and educational programs for different age groups and audiences when required
- Adapt facilitation approaches and communication styles to meet the needs of different audiences and settings.
Community and Youth Engagement
- Actively seek, develop and maintain beneficial relationships with community groups, youth serving organizations, and other partners
- Communicate with youth, parents/guardians, schools, and referral sources regarding program participation
- Expand and advance opportunities to increase program delivery and awareness to diverse demographics
- Facilitate the referral process and maintain contact with interested participants and families
- Create and contribute content for RCSP social media platforms to promote youth programming, workshops, events and mental health awareness.
- Promote programs through social media, community events, displays, presentations, and other outreach activities.
- Represent RCSP at relevant community meetings, forums, and community tables as required.
- Network with school districts, school staff, and community organizations to strengthen referrals and collaboration.
- Identify opportunities to collaborate with other organizations and avoid duplication of services.
Support Program Learning and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain accurate participant records and documentaton
- Stay current on trends related to mental health and suicide prevention
- Provide recommendations on programs to ensure outcomes are met
- Track and maintain program statistics for reporting
- Assist with program evaluation and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in social sciences, community development, education, or another related field. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- A minimum of two years’ experience working with children and youth
- Demonstrated experience facilitating groups, workshops, and presentations
- Experience in youth program development is an asset
- A solid understanding of mental health,
child/youth development, and suicide prevention is an asset
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community partners
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Above average experience with computers and Microsoft applications
- Experience with virtual platforms such as Zoom
- Excellence in initiating and developing effective partnerships and collaborations
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, and able to work independently and as an integral part of a team
- Must be creative and think outside the box
- Experience using social media and creating engaging content to promote programs and events
- Highly organized and able to solve problems effectively
- Strong knowledge of community resources is an asset
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Drivers License and have access to a reliable vehicle
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check and Child/Youth Intervention Check
- Possessing Standard First Aid with CPR, Mental Health First Aid and/or Applied Suicide Intervention Training is an asset but can be provided
