BGC East Scarborough (BGCES) is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and youth-focused Youth Restorative Justice & Development Worker to support meaningful youth engagement, holistic youth development, individualized goal-setting and progress, restorative practices, and the delivery of high-quality programming within our youth programming environment. The position supports youth at BGCES and MAAT Youth Centre by building meaningful, consistent relationships and working with young people to identify their strengths, interests, goals, needs, and areas for growth.

A key responsibility of the position is to support youth in developing and working toward individualized Personal Development Plans.

The Youth Restorative

Justice & Development Worker conducts regular check-ins, documents progress, identifies emerging needs and barriers, connects youth to appropriate supports and opportunities, and maintains an ongoing record of each youth's development and journey. The position encourages youth ownership, positive decision-making, accountability, personal growth, and meaningful participation in their community.

The position contributes to the day-to-day operational excellence of the MAAT Youth Centre by ensuring programs are organized, prepared, engaging, safe, and responsive to youth needs. The Worker develops and delivers programming that supports holistic youth development across areas such as personal development, education and learning, leadership, relationships, culture and identity, creativity, wellness, life skills, community connection, conflict resolution, and future pathways. The position also contributes to a positive youth environment where young people feel respected, heard, supported, and connected.

A key area of practice is the use of restorative approaches to strengthen relationships, address conflict, support accountability, and repair harm. The Worker supports youth in developing communication, conflict resolution, empathy, accountability, and relationship-building skills and, where appropriate and consistent with BGCES policies and safety procedures, facilitates restorative conversations, circles, and other restorative processes. The position is expected to remain adaptable as youth needs, community priorities, funding opportunities, and organizational initiatives evolve, working collaboratively with the Youth Engagement & Development Lead and Senior Manager, Youth Programs & Community Services to strengthen youth engagement, restorative practices, program quality, partnerships, individual youth outcomes, and the overall youth experience.

Reports to: Senior Manager, Youth Programs & Community Services

Key Duties and Responsibilities of this position include:

· Build meaningful relationships with youth and understand their strengths, interests, goals, needs, and areas for growth.

· Support youth in developing and working toward individualized Personal Development Plans (PDPs).

· Conduct regular check-ins, track progress, identify barriers, and connect youth to appropriate supports, resources, and opportunities.

· Maintain accurate documentation of youth participation, progress, goals, referrals, and developmental journey.

· Incorporate restorative practices into youth engagement, programming, conflict resolution, and relationship-building.





· Facilitate restorative conversations, circles, and other appropriate processes that support accountability, understanding, relationship repair, and repairing harm.

· Help youth develop skills in communication, conflict resolution, empathy, decision-making, accountability, and positive relationship-building.

· Support violence prevention and restorative responses to conflict or incidents in accordance with BGCES policies, safety procedures, and established protocols.

· Develop, plan, and deliver engaging youth programming that incorporates restorative practices and responds to youth interests, needs, and community priorities.

· Facilitate workshops, activities, discussions, projects, events, and experiences that support holistic youth development.

· Create opportunities for youth to build skills, confidence, leadership, relationships, identity, community connection, and future pathways.

· Adapt programming based on youth feedback, participation, emerging needs, and changing program priorities.

· Contribute to a safe, welcoming, organized, and youth-centred environment at MAAT Youth Centre.

· Build positive relationships with families, schools, community organizations, mentors, service providers, and other youth-serving partners.

· Connect youth to relevant supports, resources, opportunities, and community services.

· Identify opportunities for restorative partnerships, community engagement, and initiatives that strengthen positive relationships and community connection.

· Maintain accurate attendance, program, PDP, progress, restorative practice, referral, and youth development records.

· Document youth engagement, restorative processes, outcomes, and follow-up in accordance with BGCES requirements and confidentiality standards.

· Monitor participation, youth development, emerging needs, and program outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Participate in team meetings, training, professional development, evaluation, reporting, and other activities that support continuous improvement.

· Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Social Work, Education, Recreation and Leisure, Community Development, Youth Leadership, Restorative Justice, or a related field.
- Equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working directly with youth in a community, educational, recreation, social service, or youth-serving environment.
- Experience developing and delivering youth programs, workshops, group activities, or community-based initiatives.
- Experience supporting youth with personal development, goal setting, mentorship, life skills, leadership, education, or other developmental needs.

· Experience with restorative practices, conflict resolution, mediation, violence prevention, or relationship-building is an asset.




- Experience supporting individualized development plans, case management, goal tracking, progress documentation, or participant follow-up is an asset.
- Experience working with youth from diverse cultural, social, economic, and developmental backgrounds.
- Experience working within a culturally responsive, strengths-based, and anti-oppressive framework.
- Experience building relationships with families, schools, community organizations, and other youth-serving partners.
- Experience supporting youth who may experience barriers to participation, development, education, employment, or community engagement.
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C/AED.
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
- HIGH FIVE certification or willingness to obtain

· A valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle, as required for operational needs. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

· Strong organization, documentation, goal-setting, and follow-up skills.

· Ability to recognize emerging youth needs, identify appropriate resources, and make referrals.

· Ability to plan and deliver engaging individual and group programming.

· Ability to adapt to changing youth needs, community priorities, funding opportunities, and organizational initiatives.

· Culturally responsive, inclusive, anti-oppressive, and youth-centred approach.

· Commitment to youth voice, empowerment, accountability, inclusion, belonging, and community connection.

· Solid teamwork and collaboration skills.

- Experience working with Black, Indigenous, racialized, newcomer, underserved, or otherwise marginalized youth.
