We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Specialist to support purchasing, inventory control, and logistics operations at a busy veterinary referral hospital in York Region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, supporting purchasing activities, analyzing inventory costs and turnover, and coordinating the movement of supplies from suppliers to internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and place purchase orders to maintain appropriate stock availability.
- Coordinate with hospital departments to understand inventory requirements and ensure timely availability of supplies.
- Receive, verify, and distribute incoming shipments.
- Ensure products are properly labeled, organized, and handled in accordance with safety and operational requirements.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with supplier invoice reconciliation and inventory-related budgeting activities.
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to manage domestic and international shipments.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory processes, reduce costs, minimize waste, and increase operational efficiency.
- Prepare inventory reports and use data analysis to support purchasing, inventory planning, and management decision-making.




- Validate inventory master data including costing to ensure data integrity.
- Analyze slow-moving, excess, obsolete, and aging inventory and recommend appropriate actions.

Qualifications

- Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain field.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control and inventory analysis.
- Experience maintaining and validating inventory master data.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience with veterinary hospital or healthcare inventory systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical supplies, healthcare products, or medical inventory is an asset.
- Solid interpersonal skills.
- Ability to safely lift and move items weighing up to 20 kg.
