About BUILD

BUILD Inc. is an Indigenous non-profit social enterprise and paid training program in Winnipeg. Since 2006, more than 1,000 people facing barriers to employment have built construction skills and launched careers through BUILD. Our program combines hands-on experience with employment, cultural and wrap-around supports.

The role

The Labour Market Intermediary builds the bridge from BUILD's supportive training environment into lasting employment. You will develop employer partnerships, understand workforce demand, match youth with suitable opportunities and support both youth and employers through transition and early retention.

What you will do

- Build employer partnerships. Develop and maintain relationships with construction-sector employers and other partners that can hire or advance BUILD youth.
- Understand workforce demand. Learn partner needs, roles, schedules, required skills, workplace culture and hiring processes.
- Match youth with opportunities. Work with youth and Training staff to align skills, goals, readiness and support needs with suitable employers.
- Support transitions and retention. Coordinate warm referrals, maintain follow-up and respond early when attendance, performance, communication or personal barriers affect a placement.
- Facilitate employment workshops. Deliver interactive sessions on employment readiness, workplace expectations, communication, job search and retention.
- Strengthen pathways. Build relationships with educational institutions and test approaches such as social procurement and subcontracting partnerships.
- Track activity and outcomes. Maintain accurate employer, referral, placement, follow-up and performance information in approved systems.

What you bring

- Experience supporting people who face multiple barriers to employment or who are marginalized.

- Demonstrated success building relationships with employers, educational institutions, community organizations or multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories and contemporary realities, together with cultural humility.
- Knowledge of motivational-interviewing approaches and self-determination in goal setting.
- Experience facilitating interactive workshops using adult-learning practices.
- Solid communication, negotiation, presentation, critical-thinking, organization and data-management skills.
- A valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence and willingness to complete the required Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check processes.

Assets

- First Nations, Inuit or Metis identity, relevant lived experience, community relationships, cultural knowledge and/or an Indigenous language.
- Sales, business-development, recruitment, account-management or employer-relations experience.
- Knowledge of construction, apprenticeship pathways, social procurement, subcontracting or employment-training programs.
- Why work at BUILD
- Help youth move from training into meaningful, lasting employment.
