This roles will support projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and will work closely with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, and consultants.The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in electrical engineering within utility or industrial environments, along with experience supporting project execution.This is acontract positionwith an anticipatedstart date of November 1, 2026, and anend date of December 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension. your application details will be shared with our client for their review.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide technical support to Project Managers on various projectsPerform engineering due diligence for project planning and deliveryFacilitate and/or complete project risk management including risk identification and associated mitigationPerform project scope verifications, field verifications, engineering data gathering, and associated detailed project planning activitiesReview tender packages prepared by consultants and contractorsPrepare tender packages and Requests for Proposals (RFPs)Review shop drawings prepared by contractors and vendorProvide technical input as a design team member and contribute to technical documentationDirect and supervise consultants and contractors during project executionOversee quality planning and associated inspection plans for assigned workReview and approve consultant reportsAttend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) as requiredConduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and support site teamsFacilitate effective communication among internal teams, contractors, and stakeholdersReview and approve technical and commissioning documentationAssist with project close-out activities and asset transition to operationsPromote continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practicesSubmit timesheets and required documentation in accordance with project requirementsPerform other duties as assignedEducation and Experience RequiredBachelor's degree inElectrical EngineeringRegistered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)



with theProfessional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL)Minimum of10 years of experienceoverseeing project engineering in an electrical environmentExperience in project scope definition, engineering data gathering, and associated detailed project planning activitiesExperience leading project risk identifications and mitigationsExperience with on site project monitoring at remote locationsExperience in design, managing construction contracts and commissioningExperience in preparing project estimatesExperience with project quality and inspection programsStrong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teamsAbility to adapt to dynamic work environments and changing project demandsA valid Canadian driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract is requiredA criminal record check will be requiredCandidates must be fit-for-work and meet client-specific site requirementsWork will be based in St. John's, NL, with potential for hybrid arrangementsPeriodic travel within Newfoundland and Labrador may be required.North Star Associates is strongly committed to employment equity.
