Job Number: 56145We’re seeking a passionate and strategic thinking transportation engineer who understands the connection between policy, action, and results. It will be your job as a Senior Engineer in Urban Planning and Economy to lead studies and develop mobility plans to support the development and implementation of The City Plan, Edmonton’s combined Municipal Development Plan and Transportation Master Plan. Projects you can look forward to being involved in include implementation of the Goods Movement Strategy and future mass transit planning including BRT and LRT. You will work with branch leadership and a multi-disciplinary team of professional engineers, planners, and technologists to further your projects.Your demonstrated ability to apply innovative solutions, your strong project management skills, and your strong analytical skills will support your success. Well developed listening, negotiation, and collaboration skills as well as a proficiency in written and verbal communication are necessary. Your success will be measured by your ability to achieve timely results in the context of a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.What will you do:Lead complex, strategic engineering and related studies for the development of strategic plans, policies, guidelines, and implementation tools for Edmonton’s multi-modal transportation networkPerform current and future state network analysis which will include analyzing traffic and transportation patterns, identification of network gaps and solutions.Lead research and develop policies or actions that will support the implementation of The City PlanLead complex studies including project management activities, managing multiple staff members, collaborating with internal and external Community Partners,



and presenting results in written and oral form to senior leadershipCollaborate with internal business partners and engage external interested parties in the development of key initiativesProactively review policy, literature and current best practice for transportation planning and engineeringAnalyze and evaluate policies for continued support or modification; this includes the evaluation of travel data, traffic safety data, land use economics and health dataRepresent the section, branch, department or City as a part of committees or projectsManage, supervise and mentor project engineers, technologists and/or techniciansOversee and approve the work of staff including technical oversight and guidelinesPerform related duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering with coursework in Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning or Land Use PlanningMust be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA, in good standing. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to commencement of employment7 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and/or Land Use PlanningAsset:Working knowledge of GIS SoftwareSkills required for success:Transportation Expertise: Experience conducting complex engineering and multi-modal studies, applying transportation design guidelines, understanding City of Edmonton policies, and interpreting traffic modeling software outputs (such as Emme, Synchro, or VISSIM)Project Management & Leadership: Strong project management skills with the ability to lead, supervise, and mentor multidisciplinary teams of engineers,
