About the Role Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Power Systems Analyst to join their team, contributing to grid stability and reliability initiatives with a connection to Kimberley . This role is essential for understanding and predicting the behavior of the electrical grid under various operating conditions, particularly as renewable energy sources are increasingly integrated. You will utilize advanced simulation tools and analytical techniques to assess grid performance, identify potential vulnerabilities, and recommend solutions to enhance stability and ensure uninterrupted power supply. This hybrid role allows for versatile remote work combined with necessary on-site analysis and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities Perform power flow, short-circuit, and energetic stability analyses of the electrical transmission and distribution network.
Develop and validate power system models using simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory).
Assess the impact of new generation interconnections, load changes, and grid contingencies.
Identify and analyze potential grid instability issues, such as voltage collapse or frequency deviations.
Develop strategies and recommendations for grid upgrades, protection system settings, and operational procedures.
Collaborate with grid operators, planning engineers, and asset managers to ensure system security and reliability.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in power system analysis and simulation.
Strong knowledge of power system stability principles, protection schemes, and control systems.
Proficiency in industry-standard power system analysis software.
Experience with renewable energy integration studies and their impact on grid stability.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
