Department: Critical Care Unit
The Clinical Nurse Educator will provide clinical leadership, education, mentorship, and support to nurses and other members of the interprofessional team, promoting evidence-informed practice and excellence in patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge

Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required

Graduate of a recognized BScN Program required

Masters of Nursing or Masters of Science in Nursing required

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (within the last twelve months)

Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (within the last twelve months)

Coronary Care Course and/or Lead II Interpretation Course, 12 Lead Interpretation required

RACE Training required (Rescue, Alarm, Confine, Extinguish)

2-3 years’ experience on a Critical Careunit required

Minimum of 5 years recent (within last 2-3 years) Critical Careexperience required

Excellent demonstrated physical and psychosocial assessment and intervention skills required

Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles combined with recent teaching experience (patient and staff education) required

Knowledge / experience in education curriculum development, implementation and evaluation required

Proven working knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice required

Skills/Abilities

Ability to participate in qualified groups dedicated to excellence in nursing practice with the patient populations served required

Demonstrated ability to prepare and present educational material based on the principles of adult education required

Excellent demonstrated flexibility, organizational and leadership skills required





Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education is required

Self-directed professional who functions with minimal supervision required

Demonstrated team player required

Critical problem solving and decision‑making skills required

Computer skills - keyboarding and software applications required

Experience in policy and procedure development required

Good attendance and work record required

Solid knowledge of Philips patient monitoring system and their clinical applications is an asset

Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) an asset

Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors

Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization

Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates.
