The Near North District School Board seeks a Temporary Child Development Counsellor for the West Region, effective immediately. Help grades K-8 students enhance social-emotional skills through engaging learning experiences.
This role involves supporting students in Parry Sound and surrounding areas, implementing structured lessons and individualized interventions. You will report to the Mental Health Lead and work directly with students to foster relationships and promote well-being while addressing behavioral and social-emotional needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver classroom-based lessons for social-emotional development
• Conduct small group sessions with elementary-aged students
• Tailor interventions to meet individual student needs
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team for effective support
• Monitor and adapt programs based on student progress
Requirements:
• Three-year Child and Youth Worker/Care Diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience working with children and youth
• Proven experience in school settings supporting students
• Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle
• Respect for diverse cultures and inclusive practices
