The University of Calgary is seeking an Assistant Professor in Muscle Mechanics as a Canada Research Chair Tier II. This role focuses on creative research and external funding within Kinesiology.
The Faculty of Kinesiology invites applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Muscle Mechanics. We are looking for an emerging world-class researcher with a strong background in muscle properties, contraction mechanisms, and related injuries. Ideal candidates will have expertise in myofibril preparations, structural protein labeling, and advanced imaging techniques to enhance our research output.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop an innovative research program in muscle mechanics
• Secure external funding, including Tri-Council grants
• Mentor students and trainees in research
• Collaborate with the Department of Biomedical Engineering
• Contribute to transdisciplinary initiatives and strategic planning
Requirements:
• PhD in Kinesiology or related field
• Strong research specialization in muscle mechanics
• Proven record of external funding as a Principal investigator
• Potential for international recognition in research
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion initiatives
Lead pioneering work in muscle research at UCalgary and shape the future of kinesiology.
