The TransX Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Manager to join our Safety & Compliance department.
The Safety Manager implements safety programs and training initiatives, ensuring the consistent application of safety standards across operations and terminals. Reporting directly to the Safety and Compliance Manager, this role manages safety-related workflows, oversees training systems, and leads driver onboarding activities. The incumbent monitors execution, identifies gaps, and takes corrective actions to improve compliance and effectiveness. The Manager works closely with operations and terminals to reinforce safety practices and support operational requirements.
As Safety Manager, the position is expected to align with the TransX Core Values for Teamwork, Safety, Innovation, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Standards Implementation: Implement established safety standards across operations and terminals. Reinforce the consistent use of procedures, controls, and safe work practices. Identify execution gaps and elevate systemic issues impacting safety performance or compliance.
Training Systems Management: Oversee and manage the LMS (LUMA) to support training delivery, tracking, and content accessibility. Maintain accurate training records,
monitor completion rates and user engagement, and address system issues impacting training execution.
Driver Onboarding & Orientation: Oversee the delivery of driver orientation programs to ensure new drivers are thoroughly trained on safety procedures and operational expectations. Validate onboarding completion, ensure compliance readiness, and continually onboarding activities to improve consistency and effectiveness.
Health & Safety Coordination: Coordinate health and safety committee activities, meetings, and follow-ups. Support facility inspections, track corrective actions, and monitor ongoing compliance with health and safety procedures across operations.
Training Content Development: Develop, update safety training materials based on operational, regulatory, and company requirements. Support internal departments in implementing function-specific training and evaluate overall training effectiveness.
Operational Support & Work Coordination: Support terminal operations in applying safety procedures, reviewing incidents, identifying corrective actions, and following up on risk mitigations. Coordinate daily activities for safety and training support staff, provide task guidance and manage workload distribution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: College diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Training, or a related field.
Experience:
1-3 years of relevant experience in safety management, compliance execution, or training coordination.
Transportation industry experience is considered an asset.
Regulatory & Safety Expertise:
Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements and transportation safety standards.
Familiarity with training programs, content development, and Learning Management Systems (LMS/LUMA).
Core Competencies & Capabilities:
Strong coordination, follow-up, and workload management capabilities.
Practical problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills across departmental teams, management, and external regulatory agencies or auditors.
Positive organizational and time-management skills under operational demands.
