As part of our experienced Group Underwriting team, you will review, analyze and interpret financial information to prepare new business quotations; review and assess historical claims experience to prepare financial reports for renewals; and handle inquiries, amendments and rate negotiations in a timely manner. You will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to both internal and external contacts throughout this process.
* This position is available as a hybrid role based in Winnipeg, MB, with a requirement to work in the office three days per week.
Applicants who reside outside Winnipeg and its surrounding areas may be considered for a work from home arrangement from anywhere in Canada.
Qualifications:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively convey information and build relationships with fluency in English and French
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a group benefits underwriting role, with current experience working as a Group Benefits Underwriter
Strong understanding of all financial arrangements, including non-refund, ASO and retention accounting
Candidates must have post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Broad knowledge of group insurance products
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Effective problem solving and negotiating skills
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Ability to work well in a team setting as well as independently
Capable of handling multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines
Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
Completion of GBA/CEBS courses would be considered an asset
